Nail polish?

bridetobe, on August 29, 2015 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

I'm getting my girls nail polish i'd like them to wear for my wedding and I'm having an hard time picking a color. The dress is Bouquet from David's Bridal. Link is below to the swatch color. I can get them a toe color too. They are wearing nude shoes. I don't want to make painting their nails mandatory, but if they want to, I'd prefer it look good. Some of them would do something crazy if i don't give them guidelines. What color do you think will be good to match this color?

This seems really really controlling. My girls asked me and I said I don't really care as long as it's not going to glaringly stand out, like neon. They were totally fine with that.

I said neutral or natural. What other colors are in your wedding? Might be hard to match purple exactly.

A classic french manicure matches everything.

I'm a nail girl. It's important to me and they want me to pick. The wedding colors are shades of purple and grey. I had a feeling someone was going to say i'm controlling. I'm not. I let them pick their dresses themselves and they all picked the same dress. I even let them pick the color together.

I don't think it's controlling, you are the one buying the polish and its just painting one's nails. Requesting that people get acrylics: controllling, saying hey can you paint your nails in with this polish I'm providing: not controlling, maybe a bit picky

A good ol' french manicure, but here's something that might work:

Totally not controlling at all! I think it's nice that you're getting them a polish, I would be excited as a BM if the bride got me this. I would go with a neutral like tan or a darker cream, that looks great with everything!

Any wedding I've been in the bride said we could do whatever we want. I think it's weird to make every single detail so matchy matchy. Plus no one will even be looking at their hands or notice their nails and looking back at pictures of me as a bridesmaid you can't even see my nail color. Sorry but it seems a bit controlling :/ honestly you should let them pick the color especially if they are paying for it themselves. Just tell them nothing crazy.

I think you're out of line by asking them to paint their nails a certain color of your choice. If you are buying them polish because they like nail polish, that's different. If a bride asked me to paint my nails a certain color, I'd expect HER to pay for my manicure.

Either a nude or blush pink would go well. Both very natural and don't stand out. I think a deeper shade of purple would look good as well but not everyone likes dark nails

I just told my girls French or a neutral color like blush or beige, and no bare nails.

I'd just tell them to go with a neutral color. Telling them an exact shade is a bit micromanage-y IMHO.

One of my BM's showed me the polish she had on last weekend and asked if she could wear it for the wedding. I told her to wear whatever she wanted. Of course I'm trusting she would not walk in with bright ass lime green too.

I'm personally sticking with my usual very trimmed nails with a coat of clear pink tinted polish. I personally think salon nails tacky, even the french ones. But I know most people don't feel that way and the BM's can have them done if they want.

Are u serious? This is way overboard! Even if my bm came in with neon pink and orange I wouldn't say anything. @annakay are you really telling them they must paint their nails? That's way too controlling in my opinion!

I'm sorry- but I also think this is a bit much. There are so many things to worry about on your wedding day, and the last thing I will be worrying about is the color my BMs paint their nails. I'm not calling you, "controlling", however I also remember your post about the binders you were looking to put together for your BM's.

For me, literally, BMs will be the least of my worries. As long as they show up on time, and are in their dresses - that is perfect. They certainly don't need binders, and I won't suggest a nail color polish for them. I guess everyone is different, do what you feel you have to do, I guess.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. If your girls were upset about it then maybe it would be something you could let go of, but it seems like they are into nails, and are cool with it. You could even make a fun girls activity out of it the night before or something and do each others nails! That actually sounds like a blast to me! haha Have you thought about a light grey? I LOVE grey nails! I think that would look classy, pretty and modern!

Neutral or a French would look really nice. I did an American French for my engagement photos and it went with both of my outfits nicely.

While I do think this is a bit obsessive... do you guys have reading comprehension problems or something? She said she's "getting them" the polish, and that they asked her. My BMs keep asking me what I want them to do for minute details, too (hair, jewelry, nails, shoes-- I don't care). Sounds like her BMs are being considerate, she's not being controlling.

    That being said, light grey.
