Nail biting...

Brenda, on March 17, 2017 at 5:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

My nerves are shot. I have resorted back to nail biting. Help, what can I do to stop this habit?

I use Stop the Bite, I have a dream board and sometimes I'll wear black nail polish (super embarrassing because it gets in your teeth, and when someone points it out once, it might make you stop). Some other ideas that are to look at what is stressing you out. Can you fix/alleviate the issue? Is there healthier way for you to destress about it? Do you have friends/family that can help? Start there. Nail biting is a tough one, and I'm right there with you.

Nail biter here! I've been getting my nails done every two weeks for 2 years now and I haven't picked at my nails. It's really not that expensive

I posted about this at the beginning of the week and a lot of people have been telling me to paint your nails!! Or have something that your hands can keep busy with.

I got a glass file to smooth out the edges really well. I've noticed that if the edges of my nails are really smooth and round I don't bite them, but if there are any corners or rough bits...goodbye, nail.

I have a problem with this and use this product: https://www.amazon.com/Mavala-Stop-Biting-Sucking-0-3-Fluid/dp/B0000YUXI0/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1489789355&sr=8-1&keywords=nail biting polish for kids

It tastes disgusting, but that is the point. It always does the trick to break the habit. I just need to not go back to it. Fake nails never broke the habit for me. I would bite and suck on those too. Also I hate fake nails.

Mavala Stop is so disgusting that it almost worked for me. Had to stop using it because FH said he could taste if when he kissed me. Lol.

Oh I hate it Rayla but after a week I no longer bite my nails. I just need to be serious about sticking with it.

Get a manicure. Expensive and you won't want to ruin it.

I get gels every three to four weeks. You can't bite them, they always look great and the problem is solved. It's not cheap however.

I restarted biting my nails a couple years ago when stressed at work and haven't stopped. I hate my nails painted, so I'm no help but just wanted to say I empathize.

I wish I only bit my nails! Since high school I have pulled out sections of my eyebrows when I'm stressed or bored! I'm trying desperately to keep it in check leading up to the wedding!

@ Celia: That's what I do now too! I don't feel "cured" since I think I would immediately go back to biting them, but my nails looks awesome now.

I helped kick my stress-induced nail biting getting gels done as well! The only part I didn't love (aside from the price tag) was it really destroyed my nails when I stopped (super weak and thin!). Definitely worked though!

Coconut oil is my go to. I hate the taste and it helps my nails grow.

I have bitten my nails since I was a little girl. Now I go thru phases. But it helps a lot when I just take better care of them. I file them, use lotion, and I paint them with julep nail polish. It's about 20$ a bottle, but it gives your nails a just manicured look and really strengthens them.

My fiancé is a really bad nail biter and earlier this week he got acrylic nails. He hasn't bitten them yet!

@Kellie- I used to pull my eyelashes too. In high school I pulled my lashes mostly, and literally had no eyelashes in the center of each upper eyelid. I trained myself to pull my eyebrows instead since they were easier to pencil in lol.
