So I rarely wear nail polish or get my nails done just because of personal preference but I definitely want to have beautiful, longer, painted nails for the wedding. So I rarely wear nail polish or get my nails done just because of personal preference but I definitely want to have beautiful, longer, painted nails for the wedding. The problem is my nails are so thin so I can't really grow them out and when I've gotten acrylic nails, they shave down my nail bed so much. I want to have the look of acrylic nails but without the damage of them. What are my options? Anyone else having similar issues?

I tried the SNS nails. Gel made my nails weak, but the SNS has been great!

I tried gel for the first time about a month ago before I got engaged. It was great on and my nails grew like crazy. When I took the gel polish off though my nails were weak and brittle. I had strong healthy nails prior to that and it's taking forever for them to get back to their natural glory. I would try them out now to see how your nails do since you've got a few months ahead of your wedding.

Same issues. my french tips were beautiful for my wedding and my honeymoon. 2 months later, I'm still left with those awful crease lines in my nail bed (the base of the fake nail). I have no choice but to let it grow out, or have it filled in with gel i guess...still don't regret it though!

I would avoid any sort of extension or "fake nail". Try gel polish or SNS. I don't have experience with SNS but I'm dying to try it. Gel makes my nails so strong and allows them to get long! I usually get gel every 2 weeks. I'll get it twice in a row and then take a break but make sure you have a nail salon take it off. Do not peel it if it starts to lift at all (though it shouldn't)

It really depends on the salon you go to as well. My old salon would file the hell out of my nail bed before applying the gel. My new salon gives it a gentle buff and my nails are actually long and strong now!

Never ever ever pick it off yourself.

You have time to grow them out.

I've decided to grow my nails out after years of acrylic nails. I massage unrefined coconut oil into my cuticles 2-3 times a day. It's been about 2 months and my nails are strong, healthy and I have some length.

My sister swears by biotin. Start there!

Take Biotin vitamins, they will help with your hair and nails. I also suggest a gel polish manicure. It lasts long and I feel like my nails grow pretty well with it

I've had gel nails for a few months now and I love it

They feel very natural on my hands, not like acrylic where I can feel the nails glued on. I get fill-ins every 3-4 weeks and the nail polish (regular nail pollish (love Essie) ) stays on for the duration of my 3-4week wait. My new experience since trying gel nails have been that I now change my nail polish not because it's worn off or chipped, but because I want a new color. The gel nails are very strong. I've never chipped nor broke a nail as of yet. I were rubber gloves (surgical) when washing dishes (most the time) and when cleaning with water.
