My wedding pinterest board is full of photos of 50's style dresses; a-line, lots of volume, polka dot lace over bodice, and most importantly knee length.

I went to a dress store with my mom, sister, and best friend. My mom didn't get to help my sister shop for her wedding dress because she lives in a different state so I wanted her to be a part of mine. I ended up almost buying a layered dress with a skirt similar to this: https://www.watters.com/media/uploads/product/16140B/2.jpg

What I ended up buying was completely different, haha.

Base Dress

I'm going to customize it once it arrives. I'll get it shortened and add a bright orange petticoat underneath so it peeks out the bottom, as well as an orange sash around the waist. Also, the dress has some wisps of tulle hanging over the top of the skirt; I'm going to move a couple up to act as straps, imitated in the store below:

Tulle "straps" - they won't be that thick once done; we couldn't control how much we grabbed for the experiment

YALL I scored on a DB sample dress. Originally $700 snagged it for $200 online and it was delivered in 2 days even though I only paid for standard shipping. IN PERFECT CONDITION!! I felt like the stars aligned because the hour before I ordered it I was having a full meltdown because I didn't like my first dress and just settled for it.
