My ring & salty reaction

So, I have anxiety and can be awkward sometimes. As a result, when I first got engaged and got my ring back from the jewelers, when people would congratulate me or bring up the engagement, I didn't often show off my ring even though I love it! I just get too shy and awkward lol. Unless people specifically asked to see it, I never offered to show it.

I knew here would be the perfect place to show it off with other people getting married who are excited and enjoy sharing! At one point there was a perfect thread for me to show it off with this story but I couldn't find the related image and now that I finally found the photo again I cannot find that thread lol! The thread was about negative reactions to your rings. 😔😞

The story I wanted to share was that, despite my awkwardness, I was very excited the day I got my ring back from the jewelers and I actually showed it off a little. I shared 2 pictures and said I was happy it was back from the jewelers on FB. Then, 2 days later I'm scrolling and saw my cousins girlfriend had shared a status the day before (so, the VERY NEXT DAY after I showed my ring) which I have included.
I know it probably sounds stupid and people may be thinking "that might not even be about/related to you" but the coincidental timing was suspicious to me. Even if it wasn't about me, it still felt like a mildly rude thing to post after seeing my ring, the exact style she's born insulting and insinuating is only wanted by ladies who are gold diggers, apparently (🙄😒)
Again, probably seems stupid, but at the time it really upset me and made me angry because of the insinuation it held. It was like she was insulting my character as a person! Not that she knew this (or that it matters because it doesn't, people can spend their money how they like!) But the ring is a family heirloom, the only thing we paid for was a new setting. I just don't care for the solitaire look, personally. I can find them beautiful but they aren't my probabl preference. It has nothing to do with cost. Also, it was a bit funny because my best friend pointed out that the ring in the shared photo was a HONKING diamond if real and good cut/quality and could easily cost way more than a "bulky" setting like mine.

Anyway, that's my little vent! And my little show off of my ring, because I really do love it! I picked the band myself after he proposed so it was perfect! He got to totally surprise me, it has a family history, and I got to customize it. It couldn't be more perfect for me and I love it so, so much!
Share your story and/or rings! 😊

That is crazy! It also depends are your hand and finger size. I had to go with something dainty because my hands are so small (like crazy kid small lol). A large setting would have looked like it was eating my hand. It had absolutely nothing to do with cost!

Don't let her get under your skin! Your ring is gorgeous and if you love it, it's beautiful. She's allowed to have her opinion, but it's your ring and your finger!

It's a slightly complex issue- they have 2 kids together so I think changing their FB relationship status and calling each other husband and wife is like "we are committed, we're gonna do it eventually, so no need not to refer to it as if it were true" but who really knows!
I certainly can't justify it 😞 but like you said, only what me and my FH thinks matters and I couldn't love it more! 😊

Thank you! That's so true- if she isn't important in my life then her opinion shouldn't be either! Love that.

That's a beautiful story and ring!! I agree, that is EXACTLY how I felt! Like, how dare others make you feel like you have to explain, and even if it was all bought by you guys, it's none of their business! I guess sometimes people are insensitive without realizing it or meaning to sometimes..

I agree that solitaire rings although gorgeous, don't suite my personality. I wanted a little something extra myself and that's what I got! My husband did a great job picking it out. Is hers an engagement ring, or just costume jewelry? It is very pretty. But I agree it's rude to post something like that. It's not necessarily true that "bulky rings generally cost most". I feel like she didn't have to post that part and could have just stopped after the first sentence. The fact that your ring is an heirloom makes it that much more special!! Don't let anyone ruin your love for your ring or what it means.

Good point! I wear about a 4.75 so the size of a 5 stone band was almost not gonna work!

That's just a picture from a Facebook group that she shared, not hers. Smiley smile which also means she couldn't edit the text at all. Still, I agree, it didn't need to even be shared.
    And thank you very much!!

Haters gonna hate lol. Don’t pay her any mind. Let her be petty, don’t even acknowledge her hissy fit. She’s just jealous. Your ring is gorgeous and not too much at all. Even if it was, who cares. Show that ring off, girl! Enjoy it!
