My review got disputed

Mr. & Mrs. C, on April 8, 2015 at 3:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

I know we see these all the time but this just made me mad. I reviewed a reception hall that we had a contract with and then canceled. I only reviewed them for the things that I encountered and the things in my contract but it was disputed. THEN they asked their DJ and everyone they know to write a good review. How aweful is it that the people they employ have to leave reviews for them! I'm not even going to deal with the WW dispute process because it never works out in our favor but I had to vent.

I was not unreasonable in my review but the vendor wants all 5s so they disputed it. That is so wrong.

End rant.

Reviews on here are a joke. I can tell, because a photographer who did a friend of mines wedding has 5 stars, and I've seen her work, and it's borderline ridiculous. Like, if I had hired her as a professional and got those horrible flash-ridden images back I would've been livid.

I suggest reviewing it elsewhere, yelp, google, yahoo, facebook, etc. I rarely only check one place for reviews. I look for as many reviews as possible.

I've noticed that too. It bothers me because I leave reviews on everything regardless if they are a great service or if i had a bad experience but i'm never dishonest about it. I know that some people go a little over board on the rating but this site is just making it too hard to judge whats real.

Yea, I admit I'm always pretty dubious of the reviews here, but some vendors have said its not as easy as it seems for vendors to dispute a review even though we seem to get a lot of threads about it.

Its probably because your contract was cancelled, I think you should be allowed to leave reviews whether or not you had a contract but that's the policy here. Try leaving your review on google or yelp.

Thanks Kim, you're right. I will have to do that. I always look for reviews everywhere. It's just discouraging since times are changing lol

I didn't know this was an issue on WW (haven't looked for much in the way of reviews here though). Good to know in the future. Too bad because everything else is awesome.

You bring up a good point about it being disputed because I canceled but I would want to know if someone canceled and why. It would add to my pros and cons list on why to give them my money.

    Lol WW be like:

We need photo proof of the day you signed the contract.

written statements from both parties involved.

    Swab sample

    pee sample

    toxology test

original and all copies of contracts

    Social of first born child

*All requirements must be met if leaving anything below a 4.5 review.

Yeah, I'm not even going to bother reviewing any of my vendors on here. That's the only thing about this place that really, really pisses me off, and I wish WeddingWire would have some balls to allow bad reviews, because really..there is none.

Lol I'd give it a super passive aggressive five star review like "We absolutely LOVED how nothing got done on time and they kept switching the prices! It was like an adventure so many twists and turns!!"

You cannot review vendors that you can't prove you used. If you have a contract (and I believe even if you canceled it) your review will stand; we can't just get rid of them because they are negative. If you have a negative review and the contract to back it up, by all means post it. There are plenty of zero star review here. I have only contested two reviews and I have never been asked for a statement. Both remained posted because the person who posted the review could prove that we worked together.

Mr. and Mrs. C, you need a contract. I don't honestly think that's outrageous. How would you feel if you were a vendor paying (lots) to be here and anyone with a grudge could come here and post bad reviews? (I'm not saying you don't have a case.) While it would be helpful to be able to review the process leading UP to a contract, I suspect that would be too hard for WW to verify.

Reviews cannot be posted from the same computer as the vendor. You have no idea who wrote those reviews, do you? Are they really friends? If you suspect that, than contact WW and they'll make good reviewers verify contracts as well.

The vendors here do not think they're a joke, trust me. I value every one that I have and only about 1/3 of my couples come here to review me, motivated (thankfully) by their good experience. WW does as much as they can to keep the review process clean, and compared to yelp, it's paradise.

If it makes you feel better, my venue has a one star review by someone who is still in the process of planning their wedding. Their review was basically "this place sucks at communication" and the coordinator responded to it asking for the person to call them. It was also anonymous.

Mr. & Mrs. C - As Celia mentioned, if you had a signed contract you are able to write a review UNLESS you cancelled on the vendor. In that case, this would violate our TOU. But if the vendor cancelled on you, your review will remain on the vendor's storefront.

Yep I still think ww should be kinda like Amazon where they show that you bought that item. This way vendors who really are bad and not working can get reviewed as such or vendors who are awesome but not what the couple are looking for purple can know that to.

The review is only valid if the service was completed, otherwise it would be like going on yelp and reviewing a restaurant your roommate ate at. I will say one thing about wedding wire reviews, the integrity of them is pretty good.

Celia, I totally understand that vendors have it tough and there are plenty of good vendors that you can get a short summary of how they are by reading reviews but this vendor and I did have a contract and I cancelled ith them because I did not want to use them after I had signed. My review clearly said this and why. I was completely honest and the vendor didn't like it. I was personally told that they have an inhouse dj and right after my review was disputed i noticed that their dj reviewed it with 5 stars. Along with several others that were on the same day or the next following days.

I don't agree with that. It would be more like reviewing a restaurant you went to and waited by the "please wait to be seated" sign for 12 minutes before anyone offered to seat you where they then put you at a dirty table and made you wait for 15 minutes with no server showing up so you decided to leave.

You didn't get a meal there, but that would be a useful review.

There were other reviews that had been posted before mine that were also lower or around the same rate and i noticed that they were removed as well. Like the vendor just came in and disputed them all at the same time instead of actually caring about what they said.

It just bugs me because like I said, I love my photographer and i left her a review stating that but it basically means nothing if other people with less heart and care in their work can get the same rating.
