My Future Mother-in-law wants to piggy back my invitations

Meagan, on August 5, 2019 at 10:20 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 10

My future mother-in-law wants to use my save the dates and invitations as her save the dates and invitations for her Texas Reception. I do not want to and I personally think it looks a little weird and I don't want extra people who think they are invited to the wedding coming. How do I tell her nicely that I would like her to buy her own save the dates and invitations?

Thanks

I would ask your future spouse to explain that it would confuse the guests. Reading this, I'm personally confused how that would work. How would these people know information about 1 event from invites meant for another?

Is she having her own weddi g or party? Kindly explain that it makes you uncomfortable and offer to help her make hers

“I’m sorry, I think that separate invitations would be best.”

Hmm, that's weird. As PPs said, explain there could be confusion if you used the same invites!

I would let you FH speak to his mother and tell her that you guys would prefer not to do that but you guys are willing to help her find/design and maybe even split the cost with her for her own invites.

I would send her a link (or just print them) to ones that coordinate with your current invites but are different so people aren't confused with information to both events and they know both aren't ceremonies.

To be clear, as the situation you’re describing is a little confusing, is she throwing you guys a local reception after you’re having an out of town ceremony&party? If so, I don’t think there’s anything weird or unreasonable about using the same invite templates— it makes a bit of sense. If you’re uncomfortable with it for some reason, have that discussion, including the reasons . If you’re concerned that it could be confusing for guests (though I’m not sure why— unless, are some people invited to both?), say as much, and work through a compromise. Maybe you two can browse for coordinating ones together

Tell her this and then stop talking, lol. Don't let her badger you.

I would tell her it's probably confusing that way but you'd be more than happy to help her make hers

I would suggest other ones and send those to her. Tell her maybe you don't have enough?
