My Entrance Song

Future Mrs. A, on June 8, 2015 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 1 10

I have been seriously thinking about the song I want playing as I am walking down the aisle. I don't want the traditional here comes the bride. I found a string quartet version of one of our songs, as we have four. if you would please take a minute to listen to it and tell me if it's too out of character for a wedding. I know it's my wedding I can do what I want, but I also have parentals who are all about the tradition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Zjwg797So

I love it! We're having our first dance to "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin Smiley smile

We reached a compromise on our end - we will be walking out to a song of our choice, and FH, the GM and BM will also walk in to one of my favourite songs, but I'll still walk to the traditional nuptial march. Would you be OK with not having it as your entrance song but at some other point of the ceremony?

I love it!!! But then again, I love Led Zeppelin in general. Smiley smile

I wouldn't worry too much about tradtionalists - playing it in a string version makes it sound more wedding-y.

We (the entire wedding party and DH and I) walked in to What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

I'm also surprising FH with it, he keeps talking about the traditional march and i'm like yeah yeah, I don't think to many guests will get it. I wanted something for us.

I absolutely love it! and thank you for posting because I'm going to use it for our wedding party to walk down the aisle. My fiance and I are walking down to Don Ross "Berkley Springs." Not traditional at all but it is our weddings right?!

I don't think the Led Zeppelin classical version will upset any of your traditional guest. Happy planning!

I like your song choice, I really want to walk down the aisle to the instrumental of the beauty and beast theme song, I just think it's so beautiful.

I thought it sounded fine. I am also not walking down the aisle to the traditional wedding march but a classical guitar version of Just Like Heaven by The Cure. All my pre -ceremony music is classical guitar versions of contemporary stuff I think it is discrete enough...I think a lot of the traditional stuff is stuffy or too formal for our setting.

Neither the processional or the recessional are traditional wedding music, but all of the songs will be played on an acoustic guitar by a friend. I can say that the two weddings I've been to I didn't even notice if the ceremony music was traditional or not. So I'd suggest sticking to want you want (especially if it means something to you) and don't worry about it. Smiley smile

I love the idea of instrumental versions of songs that have personal meaning as opposed to just defaulting to something more traditional and less significant to you! And I love this in particular, and think that maybe anyone who would recognize it might also not be too stuffy to enjoy it?

Then again, I really want to use this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10c4yonkpGA
