My dress just bunches up anytime i move!

So I bought my wedding dress online and finally received it the other day, tried it on and walked around a bit and noticed that any turn I make, I'm instantly trapped in a tornado of fabric and the train just bunches up and turns itself into a huge mess at the slightest movement!

I've seen videos of people walking around in their dresses and it seems like it moves with them, mine just stays put like cement, lol. How do they do this?? Would a hooped petticoat provide my dress with enough structure to be able to actually move?
I'm going to get a bustle for the reception but how do I handle this for the ceremony, photos and cocktail hour? (I plan on hanging out with everyone during this time)
Any tips would be highly appreciated, I'm struggling here 😂

Have you got any photos of your dress, so you can show what you mean? To be honest it sounds like it might be a little big for you, and the weight of the skirt is meaning you're moving inside the dress, but it's hard to tell without a picture.

Do did you buy it a size too big and can you take it to a tailor to fix it to make it fit better. And maybe to put a petticoat underneath

Is the front of dress the proper length? My dress behaved similarly when I tried it on prior to getting it hemmed.

It sounds like it is too big, maybe you just need to alter it. I'm sure a seamstress would know how to fix it. A picture of the dress and how it bunches would give us a better understanding of what you mean.

I unfortunately haven't got a photo of me in it but this is the dress and I hope I can kind of explain better what's going on. So the front of the dress does fit just fine, just barely scrapes the floor but the back is where it all goes wrong, it's got like 6 layers and when I move they all just bunch up and don't lay out nicely like in this photo

I want to say thanks to everyone for the responses! I think I may have explained poorly what's happening so let me try again, the front of the dress and the whole dress in general fits really perfect, just barely brushes the floor. But the train just doesn't want to stay neat, it's got many layers and when I move around they all get messy and bunched up and the sides where it gets a bit longer to go into the train also doesn't want to move. I am going to see a seamstress and I'm sure they'll help me figure out what going on but I won't be able to see them for awhile so I thought I'd ask the community!

I could be wrong, I’m not an expert. But if it’s the train, I think this is normal. Nothing is built into that component of the fabric to help it stay laid out, so it will get caught up in itself if you try to turn with it extended. This is why the maid of honor normally straightens/fluffs it once you make it down the aisle.

My dress had multiple long layers to it mainly in the train, so what I did to help with that is when I took my dress to the seamstress for alterations I asked her if she would tack the layers of fabric together so I wouldn't have that issue. It did work out great for me, hopefully that is something that could be done for your dress to help as well.

I've been looking around and you can get petticoats that add support the the train, I'm thinking this might help a bit, but we'll see..
