My dress is WAY too hot

Kortne Jo, on August 17, 2016 at 5:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I purchased and fell in love with an elegant Zac Posen dress! The ONLY thing I can complain about is how hot I am in it. My wedding is in early June and I'm nervous I'll be sweating bullets even before the ceremony starts. Has anyone made any alterations to their dress to make it cooler? Its a mermaid and I'm nervous it'll loose its shape without the slip underneath! It's so beautiful, I don't want to change for my reception and would hate to have to exchange the dress for something with less fabric. HELP!

Mine is a fit and flare (looks mermaid... no idea what the difference really is) and full satin. It is going to hot as hell but... it is going to look good.

I have nothing to say that will help... you will look great though! It is beautiful!

If you don't have an outdoor wedding, you should be fine. If you're having an outdoor wedding, consider changing the venue or using an indoor option because your guests will be sweating bullets too.

If you put a flexible mermaid hoop petticoat underneath it will keep the material off of your legs. I got married on the hottest day ever and I think I was the coolest because I didn't have the material on my legs.

Mine is a ball gown. My wedding is outside in 90 degree weather this weekend. Talk about hot!

I second the hooped underskirt! Other than that, wear lots of clear antiperspirant under your arms *and* between your thighs. Good luck!

It is a beautiful gown and you look gorgeous! I do understand your concern.

I normally use "Degree Men Dry Protection Antiperspirant" because I sweat a lot. Women deodorant, even the clinical strength doesn't do the job (they think women don't sweat as much??). I am also going to carry a pretty little fan to fan myself all dainty Smiley smile

    Good luck!

It's a pretty dress and I don't really have any advice besides me saying that it's just the ceremony you will be outside for. At least it's not the whole wedding!

Btw we are date twins!! Yay!

I'm so glad someone is feeling the same way as me! My wedding is in like 30 days, and my gown has two layers of satin and is a fit and flare (and it's suuuuuuuper tight since the bridal store ordered me the wrong size, lucky I lost enough weight to fit...kinda). Just stay hydrated!!! I think I'll be taking a few extra bathroom breaks to take it semi off and cool down too. That's really the only thing I could think of.

I work there, I know that exact dress!! It's a truly elegant heavy satin, so sorry, you're gonna bake... taking layers out will alter the look dramatically, since it has the couture cut and heavy train and back detail. I make sure to mention to my brides not to suffer their maids in satin for summer! A set of Spanx shorts will help keep moisture at bay, but you'll need to take "fan breaks" most likely to air out...

An outside ceremony in June? That's just plain cruel to the guys in suits and moist for the guests. Move your ceremony inside. Let's be smart about this.

I don't have any advice, but this is part of the reason I wanted a winter wedding. I hate being hot

Touch that Zac Posen gown and the haute couture gods shall surely smite you down.

Suffer and be hot. It's stunning- please don't change it.

Keep the dress (smoke show! Love it!) but switch your ceremony to indoors. You will be miserable outside and so will your guests!
