My dress came in and I'm feeling blah

Paula, on August 6, 2019 at 8:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I've been waiting for months for my dress to come in, and I get the call Friday that it's here. I went and tried it on tonight and I'm just not loving it the way that I hoped I would. I don't know what it is I don't like, it's just not working for me. There's no return policy and It's been paid in full at $1500 so there is no extra money for a new dress, I honestly don't know what to do. My 1st alterations appt is tomorrow at 11:00 and I'm hoping she can offer suggestions to somehow make it into something I like. No question here, just want to know if someone else is dealing with these crazy dress feelings.

What was it about the dress that you loved when you purchased it?

What don’t you like about it? Is it the design or how the dress looks on you? A good seamstress can make it look more special or fit it better. I wouldn’t worry about it! I think everyone gets dress doubt at least a little. I had it a few days ago because I felt I looked frumpy, my seamstress showed me how the dress is supposed to look and I love it again!
I hope you have a similar experience!

Dress count is def real. I know that I love my dress, but right now I’m not in love with it. Most of it is the way that the waist fits. It’s too big & look frumpy, especially when you add the length of the dress into (it’s so long that it bunches up to the waist & adds to the frumpiness that I feel.

You can point out to the seamstress the things you don't like. You have to imagine it after alterations. I just got my dress shipped to me. I love it, but I'm not dwelling on how big it is in the bust area. I know that once altered it will be fitted to my proportions. It will out work out in the end.

I can definitely relate to your feelings. I bought my dress over a year ago, and after gaining some weight I started to feel that I didn't love my dress. I recently took my dress for alterations, and my seamstress was able to make helpful suggestions on things we can change to make me fall in love with my dress again!

Yeah I understand that. I have such a short torso I felt and still feel the skirt part sits right under my boobs which I hate

I had the same problem. I put my dress on when it came in and I just felt fat and lumpy and like I had huge hips when I tried it on in my living room. I ended going back to the store, trying it on there with the proper slip and remembered why I liked it so much. Dress doubts is real and it’s no joke. Hopefully your seamstress can help.
