My diy projects

I was so happy how this turned out that I had to share!

I bought a cute gnome statue for our cake topper. I love that it it even has a wedding book behind them. However, I wasn't completely satisfied with how it was painted. The gnomes skin wasn't painted and the clothes didn't match our wedding colors (burgundy, burnt orange and royal blue). So I decided to repaint the statue and here is the final product. On the top right is a pic of the original statue.

So cute! I love the gnome topper idea vs a traditional one. So unique!

We looked at sooo many traditional toppers, but it just wasn't us. We later decided to have sylphs or fairy jars for our centerpieces (I'll include a pic). So then we looked at fairy couples, and although they are so beautiful...they just don't look like us. That's when we decided to add a few gnomes to represent the earth... and that's when it occurred to us how gnomes would be a perfect cake topper.

Here's my finished cake stand. Wood burned a celtic design on the top 14" plate. Wood burned leaves and acorns to a 10" wood plate then colored with color pencils. Sealed both playes, the wood glued and screwed the plates to an $8 store bought "8 cake stand from JoAnn Fabrics. Total cost $13.

My finished card box. I bought this wood box for $5. Wood burned the tree of life and celtic design to the top and sides. I then bought material for $2 from JoAnn fabrics and lined the box. Total cost $7. I'll definitely use this after the wedding.

My finished ringbearer box. $2 box from Hobby Lobby. Wood burned the design to the top and inside, then sealed. Used leftover fabric for ring pillows. Will be a great keepsake.
