I always wanted a ball gown, I went in thinking fairy princess. My fiance wants to see my curves and for me to get what I want so came the idea of the detachable skirt!
At my dress shopping appointment, I was pretty sure what I wanted didn't exist. I've got a big chest, so I knew I wanted the support of straps, but didn't want to look matronly. Then I fell in LOVE head over heals with a skirt from a dress, the bodice however not my style, neither was it comfortable.
My mom picked out a dress from the front, I saw it on the way in, it had a tulle skirt and so I over looked it. I thought ok, minus that it could work, it has everything, straps, lace, sparkle. We asked the seamstress about making a skirt just like the one I loved. Sure thing, perfect! Ordered.
A long time later, so much waiting for the dress to come in. Then endless fittings for small adjustments, and all I wanted was this skirt but it was not even started on yet. I posted on here how my dress wasn't done. Well she has 2 days left, and still more to go, but it's close.
Anyway because of all the customizing, I never posted a picture of it. But after today's fitting, I finally will. Included is a stock picture of the original dress.
Altered:
Goodbye tulle overlay.
Saved that lovely lace applique though, and added it to the bottom.
Brought in the back because of fore mentioned support for my chest. And who doesn't love some corset back?
Still to be done:
Bustle, edging on the skirt, a waistband, and attachment dodads.
