My bridesmaid is expecting!!!!!!!

TheWrightGirl, on February 10, 2017 at 6:38 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I just found out that one of my bridesmaid is expecting, but it's still a secret because she and her husband haven't announced it just yet. I am so beyond excited for her because they have been trying for the past two years and it has finally happened. She is due in September and my wedding is in November. When should she purchase her bm dress? Are there any other ladies that have been pregnant while being a bm or anyone have a pregnant bm that may have some advice on this?

Are your BM dresses very form-fitting or more loose?

I would wait as close as she can just incase she gains weight after and cant lose a lot, or if she loses more than expected!

My BM is pregnant and due about a month before the wedding - AND HER DRESS CAME IN BEFORE SHE GOT PREGNANT!!! Yes, we got our dresses early. She's pretty athletic though and is confident that she can lose the weight after her baby and I believe her, but she also hasn't had it altered yet, so I have faith she can make it work and if not, it won't ruin the day if she has to get a slightly different dress (and I personally don't like mix-match but hey, it's a baby!!!).

I would say if you're ok with mix-match that may be your best option, and if not I would research and find a place where you can get a dress on short notice. Then set a date with your bridal party to all go try on dresses sometime between when she's had the baby and the wedding and get it all taken care of quick. Just don't wait until after she's had the baby and then try to get everyone to drop their plans to get together and get a dress, and especially don't waste a day going places where they can't even get your dresses to you on short notice!!!

One of my BMs had a baby at the beginning of November and another found out she was expecting in November. It's refreshing to hear you are nothing but excited for your friend! We see so many posts on here that make it sound like such an inconvenience for the bride, and it makes me so sad. My friend who gave birth in November waited until mid December to order her dress and it will be here at the beginning of March. My friend who found out she was expecting in November went in to try on dresses immediately and told the consultants she had just found out and would be 5 months along and they told her it was no big deal and suggested styles with higher waists that would accommodate a growing baby bump so she'd need minimal alterations in March. They assured her it happens all the time and they knew exactly what dress ordering advice (style and sizing) to give her. Your friend will probably want to choose a dress with a high waist since she will have no idea what her waist size will be post pregnancy. Once you all figure out where you're getting BM dresses from, she'll just want to talk to the consultants about style and sizing recommendations. Congratulations to your friend!

My MOH is due a month before my wedding. She just tried on dresses the end of last month and her dress came in last week! She's 6 months pregnant, so she sized down from what for now and DB is going to work with her on alterations during the 4-6 weeks between baby and wedding

My bridesmaid is due 1 week before my wedding!!! So I don't even know if she will be there. She ordered a large dress and found someone to alter it the week before if she is able to make the wedding...

Have you picked a specific dress yet? If not- I recommend going with a mix and match option..preferably from lines that can be ordered at short notice or are available at department/local stores.. Think adrianna appeal (at macys), jenny yoo (nordstrom), anything from anthropologies bridal line(BHLDN).. that way your girls all pick something they love and its pretty easy to make a close to game time decision/purchase. I went this route specifically because all the precious babies and babies to be! I had one BM who was supposed to be due 4 weeks before the wedding, she ended up having the baby early, but it has still been nice to not have a ton of pressure on her about being a specific size. I also have two girls who were/are trying to get pregnant and were hoping to be pregnant by the wedding. At this point, we are close enough to wedding that even if they find out they are pregnant, they wouldn't be showing at wedding.

All i wanted on my wedding day was to have my favorite girls with me--SO glad you clearly feel the same and aren't crazy stressing about this!

This is all so helpful. @EC17, we haven't gone shopping yet for the dresses. But I have decided that I was going to choose a few different styles and allow them to choose which one they like best. The dress will be black which is normally an easy color to be ordered quickly. @Bluehen, I am so excited and happy for her. This is the most amazing thing for them right now. I wouldn't dream of kicking someone out of my bp because they are being blessed with life. The advice you guys have given so far is very helpful.

Exciting! I have a BM that is also due two months before my wedding! I chose a flowy chiffon empire waist dress that I think will flatter her post pregnancy, as well as in case anyone else gets knocked up between now and august lol plus it looks good on all body types.

We're ordering dresses soon, she just gave me her measurements and added a couple of inches in the bust waist and hips area. It can always be taken in easily if the weight doesn't come off right away.

OP, if you're doing the mix-match option, then I wouldn't worry too much. Like other posters said, you could probably go to a store and buy a black dress off the rack. You could also get something from a re-sale site if the BM figures out her size. Note also, that if she chooses to nurse the baby, her bra size may change so she should take that into account.

One of my Bridesmaid is 4 months pregnant and she did buy her dress with the other dresses from Dress and charm company they make perfect infinity dresses that are one size fits most and they fit perfectly pregnant women's the day we were together trying out the dresses i could not believe how perfect they all looked and my pregnant bridesmaid too with them in her dress and the dress is perfect for her even after having the baby , i can't advise you anything better than them and they fabric is extremely soft and high quality and they are so affordable, i even bought my own white dress from them , this is their website www.dressandcharm.com

their infinity dress will really make the purchase of your bridesmaid dresses so easy because they will all look same different but different ways to wrap and dont need no measurements no sizes no nothing they really save my wedding prep. Good luck for you

One of my BM will give birth a month before my wedding. She tried on the dress when she was about 12 weeks pregnant and ordered a size up to account for her chest size and baby weight come July. She said she is going to try it on after she gives birth and if any alterations are needed we will work from there.

One of my bridesmaids (FSIL) is having twins! She is due 3 months before my wedding. I did want my bridesmaids to match, but I choose a dress they all felt comfortable in. She ordered her dress a size higher than what she is currently. Once she has the babies, a month before my wedding she is going to alter the dress.

Mine will be 6-7 months pregnant at wedding time. We're getting her a maternity bridesmaid dress or at least something with a stretchy waist.

I have a bridesmaid who will be pregnant at my wedding and one who is due a few months before. i am doing the non-matching dress trend and just letting everyone get their own dress in the same color. i think it will make things earlier because then we don't have to order them at a particular time--everyone is in charge of their own!

I'd suggest something with an empire waist. I would go with Davids bridal due to so many styles and quick shipping. I'd get her measured now before she gains weight. I would order a size up just in case and plan for alterations post baby.

My SIL lost all the baby weight 2 weeks after the baby. Another friend gained 40 and hasn't lost. Everyone is different

One of my bm's was 7 months pregnant at my wedding. We got infinity dresses and it worked perfect.
