My $8 diy Cake Plate

Jessica, on June 16, 2019 at 7:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 13
Just wanted to share my DIY cake plate. Made it from a Margarita glass, a large serving plate both bought from dollar tree. Some glue, ribbon also from dollar tree and the little crystals from Michael's on sale for $5 plus spray paint left over from my centerpieces.

I have some I’m planning to make tomorrow. I’ll use them for cupcakes. I’m making 4 and the total cost in supplies was $13. Everything came from the Dollar Tree except for my E6000 glue which was $3 at Walmart. I got 4 glass plates and 6 candle holders. Two of them will be short and use one plate and one candle holder. The other two will be taller and use one plate and two candle holders for added height. Here is a pic of my supplies.

I’ll post a pic of the finished product after I get it done.

It's very nice. Is the spray paint food safe?

Im not sure. I used a sealant that is after I painted. Were also going to have a cardboard plate under the cake, just in case.

I would still check the labels of your paint and sealant, just in case. Wiltons should have a food safe cardboard cake plate that could work, or you can talk to your baker about providing one.

That's what i meant when i said cardboard under the cake, lol i just didn't know the correct terminology. So were already covered there. Plus the sealant i used states its safe for plates, glasses and utensils.
