Mustache shadow, need advice

Sandra, on June 25, 2014 at 7:30 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

So I noticed recently that I have a shadow on my upper lip. I have researched it and came to the conclusion that it may have come from my face cream that I have switched not to long ago. I notice it all the time. My sister said that she never did until I pointed it out. We'll now she says since I did that that's all she notices. I have tried everything and need to get rid of it. Do you know any quick remedies or over the counter stuff? I have tried lemon and lime juice and cortisone cream so far. Since the wedding is next weekend I didn't want to try any chemicals if I do react. I have sensitive skin. Crap I look like a man

I have the same issue when I get sun on my face. I'm not sure of any quick remedies, but my MUA said it's easy to cover.

Talk to a dermatologist, but a good make-up artist should be able to get hide it.

Would it help to bleach it?

My solution to everything - coconut oil. It helped reduce a scar I had on my leg - drastically! It's worth a shot I guess.

You still have time to get your face waxed. Go to a salon that does both facials and waxing. I love facials ... it's so relaxing. Exactly what you'll need right before the wedding.

Get it waxed. Don't just cover it up with makeup. You will be self conscious about it on your honeymoon unless the hair is gone, so definitely get it waxed!

Waxing is the way to go. It's quick, easy, and will last for a week or more.

Its not my hair but actually my skin that is deeper in color. So what bleach should I try over the counter?

If I tan, mine seems to get darker there, as well. My aunt does, too. She calls it her sun mustache. I just try to make sure I put extra sunscreen there. I would be afraid to suggest in OTC bleaching this close to the wedding. I would stay stick to the lemon juice and let it dry. MAYBE a light exfoliate, but that sounds a little risky, too. I have to agree that make-up might be your best bet.

Research reputable salons in your area. Get an appointment for a skin consultation and I'm sure they can help you out. You can also call around and ask Smiley smile

Please report back here! I have a slight mark on one half of my upper lip, too. I'd love to hear what the salon says!

Are you on birth control pills? It's often a side effect. Look up melasma or hyperpigmentation. The dermatologist can give you creams to bleach your skin. Being in the sun does make it worse.

Seeing as though your wedding is next week, I think your only option will be to cover with make-up and avoid the sun until then.

I'm not on birth control pills. So the only thing I can think of is the face cream that I have changed.
