Must have Photos

Chandra, on April 24, 2019 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
I'm putting together my must have photo list.
I'm wondering how specific people were with that list?
Did you list every "obvious photo"? Did you trust the photographer to get those?

What are some unique "must haves" that you've done?

I just listing everyone. I trust my photographer but I figure why not list them all. Also for unique ones we are having our wedding at a country club and we get gold carts to use for pictures. We also want one of us and all the kids watching the movie in our kid room. (Well all the kids that will cooperate.

I'm trusting my photographer for most of the photos. I did give a list of family photos/groups I wanted.

I did request a kissing photo from the officiant point of view (looking into the audience) and then showed her 2 couples poses I loved.

We generally trusted the photographer but we had two requests. One was a group shot of all of our guests. The other was one of my and my husband wearing Mr and Mrs Santa hats that I made and holding mistletoe for our Christmas card. 😄

I trust my photographer to get a lot of the "typical" pictures so I just listed all of the ones that I specifically, really want and will be looking for. I just made a breakdown by each "section" of the day and then wrote a list of photos I wanted to get within each "section." For example, I broke it down by: getting ready, first look, bridal party photos after the first look, ceremony, family photos, bridal portraits, groom portraits, B&G portraits, entrance and first dance, cake cutting, parent dances, sparkler send off. Then under those headers, I have pictures I want such as my mom helping me put my dress on under getting ready, FH's reaction to seeing me (shot from behind me) under the first look, family combinations under family photos, etc. She also had me send her Pinterest inspo of pictures I love and she saves those on a file in her phone so she can recreate some for me on the day-of.

I am giving my photographer all the freedom in the world, but I did request a specific shot and that's our first kiss shot. I am also sharing my pinterest page with her so she can get a feel of the style I'm going for. Obviously i have quite a bit of time until my wedding but she is also a crazy over planner like i am so it works lol.

I'm putting my trust into my photographer. Although my FH and I are Star Wars nerds, so I might request a few fun ones for posed shots, but anything candid, I'm leaving up to them.

Of you MUST have it, you MUST write it down. Photographers know what they’re doing but they don’t know your priorities, and the day gets hectic quickly. Always better to have a running list. That way you both can keep tabs and be more aware of anything missed. This isn’t something you get a re-do on so best to be as proactive as possible.

Here's the list that our photographer gave us of her must take pics. We are free to add/remove.

I did up a list of all the typical ones but added some in as well. I've also told my photographer I'd like some just candid photos and not all overly posed.

Some of the more unique ones for us are:

Us sitting on a truck bed

Standing on opposite sides of the door holding hands (no first look)

    Groom blindfolded kidding bride

Picture of the bride walking down the aisle from the back (two photographers, one up front, one in the back to capture guests)

Group picture - EVERYONE all gathered round so we can look back and see who came

Can anyone shed light on the logistics of that shot from the officiants view? Do you have them say their last words, then quickly move aside and the photographer slides in from just outside where the wedding party is standing? It really captures spontaneous reactions when done right and we'd like to do it, but are worried about it taking too long to stay "genuine".

Is this something that every photographer is familiar with? If so, I need to start compiling my list!

I'm trying to compile my list too, however, I actually know my photographer and she has done the portraits for all of my 'life milestones' ie Pregnancy pics, pics of son and myself in hospital right after birth, his 6 month and 1yo pics, etc.
So, with that said, she is amazing and I trust her totally. But the only picture I specifically asked for was my FHs face when he sees me for the first time. I have this dumb, romantic notion in my head that moment will be special to me.
