Music/dancing for small wedding?

Elizabeth, on August 10, 2017 at 12:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

My wedding will be approx. 50 guests and most not into dancing.

We aren't that into DJs. We prefer live music. What should I look for? A band with a wedding singer? What if people don't dance? How can I keep people entertained?

I am starting to worry my wedding will be a snooze fest and everyone will just go home after they eat.

I have the same fear...except everyone is traveling, so no one can go home home at mine! I think that once people have a few drinks they relax up some though!

Can you plan other options for guests? FH isn't into dancing and likely won't beyond one with me and one with his mother, so we're having corn hole and maybe giant jenga as well as our DJ with a bon fire scheduled for later (wedding is on the beach of a lake)

Look for a good band that can play a variety of styles!

Me Too!! I don't dance and my FH loves to but has back issues and the last thing we want is his back going out.

Most of the people going aren't dancers. Alcohol won't be served at the wedding (we are in recovery and so are most of our guests) so that social lubricate is out.

The house I'm hoping to have it at does have shuffle board and other games though so I'm hoping that at least it won't be a total bust. It's a smallish wedding (50 tops) and only people I love will be there. I'm sure we can have fun.

But really all I care about is exchanging my vows in a beautiful place with the man I love and spending time with the people closest to me.

Board games, keyboard player and singer, that's what we're doing!

We have a small wedding too... about 55 guests who are not dancing types... so we decided to treat the reception like a very large dinner party. Smaller tables that seat 4 to 6....and the venue has a piano, so we have engaged a singer/keyboardist.

Several of my weddings have had jazz trios, live pianists; they were great.

Great food, good drinks; keep in mind that with a group that size, most people will know each other and the chance for great conversation is priceless.

Personally, I'm not a fan of games, and I've never seen them really utilized at a wedding except by kids.
