What route did you go for the music at your reception? Did you have a DJ, did you have a live band, and what were your likes/dislikes?

    We hire a DJ 😁

Our wedding isn't until September so can't give you any feedback.
But I can tell you hire a DJ rather than DIY DJ because I went to a wedding and they actually just played music from their phones and had a few speakers and it was horrible.
So if you have the funds to do also hire a DJ than DIY in the long run it'll help you plus your guests will thank you👌

^I so agree with PP, I went to a wedding as well with a phone and a couple speakers, and they didn’t make their playlist long enough so they made one of their guests a makeshift dj after songs started repeating. I just got married in October and we absolutely LOVED our dj. Not only does a good dj learn and cater music to your specific crowd, but he also helps organize and introduce your “extras”. He made everyone get on their feet to introduce my husband and I into the reception, got all the single girls up for the bouquet toss, gathered everyone outside for our exit, and introduced our parents for the mother son, father daughter dances. Plus the dj is there from beginning to end at all the weddings they do so if you need help with the order of things, they’ll know!

I’m not getting married until October but one of our must haves was a band. We wanted something to keep the party going and everyone on the dance floor 🙃 our band is cheaper than our florist so I think it was a good deal and they’re highly recommended

As much as I love live music, we went with a DJ. the DJ has a lot more to do than just music. They keep the day running on time (announcements, speeches, ceremony) and can relieve a lot of stress

We went with a DJ. He was able to get the party started and keep it going all night. They can quickly switch things up if they see people aren’t dancing and can also make announcements to help love things along. We loved ours.

We had a DJ. They were great because they played the perfect music to keep everyone on the dance floor, as well as kept the reception flowing in beginning during intros, speeches, etc. I’ve been to a couple of weddings with bands, and honestly, they are so boring! Most people don’t dance and the party tends to end pretty early. I’d highly recommend a DJ!

We had a DJ. And although I really appreciated having him there who also served as mc, I do feel like you could get away without one
