Music-mariachi and a dj

Jennifer , on May 17, 2018 at 11:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
My fiancé wants the have mariachi at the wedding which is totally fine with me. However he wants 3 hours and I think 2 would work a little better. The Mariachi will probably play during dinner or possibly a bit of cocktail hour.

In addition, we also want a DJ. My fiancé and I both like house music /edm .. that’s the style of the DJ we’d like to book.
At this point I’m a little concerned.. I want to have selected songs that the DJ Will play- especially to appeal to our diverse families. I brought it up to my fiancé and he wasn’t super understanding. So, how do we go about selecting songs that appeal to us and our guests !??

A lot of people put on the RSVP card something like: name a song you would love to hear. And the guest write a song and send it back.

He definitely needs to understand that yes it’s his wedding but the reception is not just about him. You want everyone to have fun and not leave early. I have left parties early if I didn’t like the music the DJ played.

My cousin had a mariachi band play for 30-45 minutes or so during her cocktail hour. I thought it was great!! I don't know that I would have wanted that for much longer though....

    Jennifer,

Sounds like a great music plan! The mariachi would be great for cocktail hour!

As a major "house-head" myself, we EDM lovers must admit that it ususally requires some working up to when exposing others. Maybe some chill vibes EDM for dinner and let the DJ do his thing for dancing. All the while sprinkling in the songs that are important to you!

At a wedding? Sure, why not!Music-mariachi and a dj 1
