Music editing for the technically challenged

ValZtoB, on January 7, 2015 at 12:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

First, let me apologize if this subject has already been addressed. I am on the mobile app and I cannot search the topic.

We have to use the DJ that is provided by our venue as the entertainment for the public cruise. We have to provide our own music for the ceremony and the first dance and parent dances. A couple of the songs need to be shortened and I was wondering if anyone could recommend simple music editing software or online programs to use. Thank you.

I have used makeownringtone.com for many occasions - it does not limit the time (like the name would suggest) to just "ringtone" size. You can edit down a song to any length - even just shaving off a few seconds. It works amazing!! Smiley smile

I downloaded a program called Audacity online. I use it yearly to edit my dance recital music. It may seem a little confusing at first, but once you do one or two songs, you should get the hang out it. You can (fairly) easily splice bits out of your music and add fade in/outs, etc. I am not very tech savvy, and I use it frequently. The only downside is that you have to convert the music to a different type of file to and from itunes, which is easy after a google search. Highly recommend the program. Audacity.

I will second using Audacity. I can't really speak for other programs as Audacity is the only one I have used and it gives me everything that I am looking for for simple audio editing.
