Multiple Mohs and their roles

Nerissa, on January 28, 2020 at 2:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
I had one maid of honor and one matron. Then my maid got engaged and married within 6 months so she’s graduated to matron then my almost 20 year old begged to be a maid of honor. Now i have 3! Besides caring for my FH wedding band - what else does a MOH do during the ceremony? I am thrilled to have all three - just want them to all feel like they’re doing something special.

I have two, but my situation is slightly different as one is my baby sister (14) and the other is my fsil (21). They can jointly plan your bridal shower and bachelorette party - or one take more of a role in each and then someone will hold your flowers in the ceremony and someone (or multiple) can fix your train (if you have a long veil).

Any female friend or relative can plan a shower, it is something often done by either MOH or whole bridal party, if they volunteer, but can be someone different. And if a group of bridesmaids contribute to a shower, they all help plan it. If a MOH plans it alone, she gets no money from others. She is not a boss or supervisor, and the whole planning group gets to decide who is responsible for what . BM or MOH who do not volunteer to do a shower, are guests only. You cannot assign that as the bride. But holding ring or holding bouquet, or being the one to get ready with the bride if others getting ready in their own homes or rooms, can be a special MOH thing if you want. And often a MOH gives a 2 minute speech, or offers a toast at the reception. The MOH is merely a bridesmaid in most respects, just one you have known longer or feel closer to. Duties are not specific, what they volunteer for, or you ask. But not the boss in party planning unless agreed on by all planning and paying for it.

I’m not having a shower so mainly focused on their roles during the ceremony
