Multiple engagement rings?

My FH gave me an engagement ring (obviously) and then my FMIL gave me a newer one with a wedding ring. I’m so thankful for my current engagement ring but it’s all beat up now from me forgetting to take it off during ceramics class and from just being outdoorsy. My FMIL told me she has multiple engagement rings and she felt bad that mine was losing its shimmer and shine so she gave me a new one. My FH prefers I wear my current engagement ring instead of the one my FMIL gave me, which is totally understandable but the new ring is so so pretty, I’d love to wear it sometime. Is it okay to wear it as a gift from my mom in law, or is having multiple engagement rings okay?

How about a compromise? Can you go get your "old" ring cleaned and just alternate between the two?

I never realized how scuffed my ring was until I took it to get cleaned. It looks like a brand new ring!

I’ve never heard of that. Getting a ring cleaned makes a huge difference. My wife cleans our rings like every 6-8 weeks! But I would keep my original ring for daily wear and use the other one for fancier occasions maybe... it’s only weird because it’s not from your fiancé but his mom.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I’m keeping my MIL rings for cocktail rings and I cleaned my actual engagement ring. Looks just like new!

I don't understand why your MIL got you an engagement ring though honestly. That isn't her job. I would feel a little awkward wearing an engagement ring that came from my FH mom
