Multiple Ceremony Readers

We aren't having a bridal party, but are considering having close family members (sisters, nieces, possibly BILs) participate in the ceremony by doing a reading. Would it be weird to have multiple (3-6) people doing the reading? (For example, each one read a verse.) The ceremony is going to be quite short, so time isn't an issue.

Also, has anyone done the Keys of Love reading? Did you incorporate actual keys at all, and if so how?

We are having each mother do a small reading. I think having two people switch off lines for one reading would be fine.

I think having too many people reading is going to break the flow of your wedding.

An even larger concern is that I think it will interfere with people's ability to concentrate on the messages from your readings. So, all the time and effort you place on finding the perfect reading passage will be lost with the shuffling between people passing on the microphones around.

Another concern is that not everyone is a good reader. You may want to consider having different "duties" assigned to different people. Maybe BIL's can be ushers while sisters and nieces can help with the decorations, etc.

One of my couples included keys into their reception, so I included the Keys of Love reading into the ceremony.

Sarah B, that sounds like a nice way to include the mothers. I think it would flow better for you, with 2 separate readings.

Carlos, that is kind of what I was afraid of if I have more than maybe 2 readers. Thanks for your opinion. I am re-thinking this.

Nancy T, did they do anything with the keys in relation to the reading, or just have them at the reception?
