Much Smaller Than Anticipated

Samantha, on September 3, 2018 at 4:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Long story short, we invited almost 160 people, expected 125, and due to drama and circumstances out of our control, it looks like we will only be having about 90 people. Since we were planning for so many more people, I'm struggling with accepting that the wedding will be "fun". Has anyone had a wedding recently with about 90 people and did your venue feel like it was too empty? Our feel of the wedding is eat drink and dance and I just don't want to feel awkward (more than I already will with all the attention) feeling like the place is empty. Ugh, I don't know. Just hard to believe we will have so many less than we thought.

Our wedding was just over 100 and we had a BLAST. When everyone is up on the dance floor it doesn't feel small at all!

We had 96 at our wedding, and 30 yrs later have friends who still say it was the best/most fun wedding they ever attended. Daughter & FSIL are hoping to have right around 100 (and will not be disappointed if the number is a bit lower). The size of the guest list has nothing to do with whether a wedding is "fun" or not. I understand being disappointed if people you love and wanted to share your day with are unable to attend, but don't let it change your expectations about the wedding! Smiley heart

We had 40 guests and a 9-piece band that people danced to all night as well as a photo booth that was a hit. It was a lot of fun and didn't feel empty at all. Guests still rave about how much they enjoyed my wedding. I personally prefer a smaller guest list because you can spend more quality time with everyone.

We've only invited 80, so I sure hope it won't be a drag. I mean, we could have invited double that and fed everyone hot dogs, but we wanted to host really well for those we loved the most.

We had 80 and it was a blast! I told my husband I can’t imagine having more because I felt like we could barely talk to everyone as it was!

We are inviting around 150 max, but it think more like 85-100 will come. This will be alright with me!!! We are paying for the wedding ourselves per person and some are only getting an invite out of obligation. Plus, I'm not a crowd type of person and tend to like to duck off in a corner and chill so as long as we meet our minimum for 40 I'm completely fine with a lower count.

Our venue only allows 100 people (guests) maximum, so we invited exactly that number. So far about 40 have said yes but we still have time before the deadline. I think even if we end up with 75 or so people I'll feel happy and overwhelmed! Smiley smile

We invited 106 and have 94 attending. I've been told by multiple people that it is a great number. It won't feel empty, 90 some people is still a lot of bodies in one place!

Thank you! It just keeps shrinking and a lot of people we really wanted to be there just aren't showing up. It's been crazy!

My best friend’s wedding was 2 years ago, and she had 70-something guests in attendance. Not even a lot of big dancers in her crowd, and the venue did not feel empty AT ALL! Do not worry, your wedding will be so fun! Be so grateful for the 90 people that will show up, and you will have a blast!
