mua timeline

Shelly, on January 20, 2020 at 2:40 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Do you think it’s enough time to do 6 girls make up between 10:30am and 2:30p? I am stressing because my MUA timeline starts at 9:15a and I can’t even get into my venue until 10:30am. I wanted to get ready on site. I do not have a room booked. I have a 5p ceremony and plan on doing first look at 3p

If your MUA says it'll take from 9:15-2:30, I would take their word for it. I've heard to budget about an hour for each person, which is close to what she has it at. Starting at 10:30 would give about 40 minutes per person, including yourself. To me that seems a little rushed, especially if something were to go wrong and they'd have to start someone all over agian.

No, I don’t think that’s enough time. My MUA said minimum 30-45 minutes for bridesmaids and minimum of 45 minutes- 1 hour for me and that was if there are zero interruptions or needing to fix things. I wouldn’t want to take that chance and end up running late for pictures. Your MUA knows how long it takes her to do her work so I’d trust her timeline.

You’ll need to ask your MUA that question. She knows the amount of time she needs per face (along with some wiggle room) because nothing with bridesmaids is usually on time on wedding day. And if the 1030 to 230 timeframe includes your makeup too, that’s a little tight.

My MUA is starting my bridal party at 8am because we have to be ready by 230p.. we are starting makeup at my maid of honors house because we can’t get into the Venue until 10am and once we can we will just move it to the venue. If you have someone house that she could start at that would be the best decision. Then move to the venue at 10.

There’s no way, I would ask if she can bring an assistant to do 3 of the girls or book a hotel room.

I don't know if that's enough time..but I would trust what she says. Ask her if you can bump it to 1030..and have her do you first. Do your bridesmaids need to be present for your first look? I thought that was just for the bride and groom. Either that or find somewhere else to get your makeup done during the time your mua has already given you.

We had a timeline similar to what you were looking at where we started HMU at 10:45 am and were ready by 2:30 for pictures (bride, bridal party, first look w/ dad) with a 5p ceremony.

Getting ready we had 1 bride + 5 bridesmaids + 3 moms for a total of 9 makeup and 7 hair - Ultimately we decided to have a total of 3 HMU artists on site to make the day easier for everyone and it was perfect.

Check with your vendor and see what their fee would be to hire an additional artist/stylist. Otherwise, I would not just shave over an hour off of the HMU time and find an alternate location to get ready. Tell your HMU artist about the venue start time and see what your options are (or contact your venue and see if there is an additional fee to get into the space early!) Good luck!

There are 7 of us getting ready. I will have my own hair and makeup artist...the rest rotate between another makeup artist and hairstylist. We start at 1pm. Ceremony is at 5:30p.

Do all of your girls have to be ready at 3 when you do your first look? I assume you would do some pictures of just you and FH before adding the bridal party in. Maybe the last girl or 2 don't finish up until 3:30 ? Just something to consider, good luck!
