Dedicated October 2020

mua pricing

on September 28, 2020 at 11:21 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
I’m pretty much gonna give up on finding a MUA at this point lol they are either booked 3 weddings on my date, or they are $600 just makeup for me, or needs $1000 makeup minimum cuz right now October is still peak season even with covid lol
Anyway, have no idea MUA is the one I’m gonna have a hard time to find 😂

Try the thumbtack app. You should be able to find one there.

Where do you live (if you don't mind me asking)? Also, is that a price you feel comfortable paying? I live in FL and I've never seen a mua charge $600-1000.

Kentucky! I honestly think weddings here are way more expensive than some of the bigger cities! I would pay up to $200-$300 for a good makeup. The $1000 minimum place wasn’t terribly pricing per person, but I only have 2 bridesmaids and the owner said “oh if you have more than 4/5 bridesmaids you should be good” lol 😂 our state still have 50% capacity for gathering, so I don’t understand why they think it’s ok to ask such high minimum for wedding makeup

I could understand if that is both hair and makeup; but not just makeup! Yikes. Definitely search around.

Well, there are a lot of mua's that travel (mine travels). I would look into wedding wire for your area, and maybe ask friends that you know. Also, many Mua's on Instagram travel. Maybe you can find one you like and pay the traveling fee (which I think would still be cheaper than the $1000 minimum)

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I’m just gonna ask my fiancé’s sister in-law do it. I’m just amazed by how much they are charging everything right now :/

I'm really surprised by that. My hair/makeup team is a fairly well known (I think) salon out of Charleston, SC and they are $125 each for hair and makeup for me. I'm very surprised it is that much for you in KY.

Me too! I feel like most of the MUA are booked at this point, anyone left are the ones are too expensive or maybe they were booked before covid so they are only changing price on new clients.

Actually I was quoted $750 - $1000 for just myself in the Keys for next weekend because it’s a “holiday” weekend, I’m having a sunrise wedding so it’s “after hours” - so they are out there.

I was quoted that much and more for next weekend and that was inquiries months in advance - they wanted to charge extra for a holiday weekend, after hours, on-site, etc.

I’ve opted to do it myself and honestly with some YouTube tutorials - I have my makeup looking better than most professionals.
You could try to reach out to a cosmetology school and see if a student would be interested in making some extra money.

I think that is the best option! Either way I think you'll look stunning on your wedding day. Best of luck!
