Mrs Robinson as recessional song?

ambrok, on September 12, 2017 at 5:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

FH loves the idea, as it'll be our name; but...I just keep thinking of the cheating wife from The Graduate?!? LOL

Yeah, I can't help but think about what the song actually is about when I hear it, so I would probably try to compromise on a different song.

One of my BM suggested an instrumental version...that I could go with; but it's hard to find a decent sounding one...

OMG... what a flashback. My cousin was married, over 30 years ago. to a man by the name of Robinson. They danced to the song at some point during the reception, and everyone cleared the dancefloor, surrounded them, and cheered when it was over. I think it's a great idea to incorporate the song.

Go for it. No one will be thinking that deep - it's perfect! I'm sure it will be a big hit.

I know what the song is "about" but I don't care, I think it's a great song and super cute, and I would totally use it if I were you. If not for the recessional, I like the idea of using it for a reception entrance song.

    I like the song.

I would never in a million years use it in relation to a wedding.

If you like it you should do it, but if it always makes you think of the cheating wife, maybe skip it. I think it is your thoughts on the song that matter more than the guests.

I love the movie but I don't think it's appropriate for a wedding. Maybe towards the end of the night?

No. I like it to, but not for a wedding.

Ehhhh even a song hinting at cheating seems like a no no for a wedding

This is probably one of those things you'll spend a ton of energy thinking about and no one will really notice.

Unless you are the same age as your FH's parents (no judgement if your are!) I doubt anyone will care that much about the song

@Richard...no, it's not a church wedding so we don't have to worry about that.

I would totally do this only because FH is quite a but younger than me. Smiley smile

The cougar aspect is where my mind goes...but of course that's with reason.

Lol I'm having the same thoughts- another future Mrs Robinson. Good luck with your choice- haven't made mine yet.

I agree that it would be super fun to do as the reception entrance! Why not go for it! There are lots of beautiful love songs that were written for unrequited or broken love- no one is thinking about that! FH and I are actually toying with using the Coasters "Get an ugly girl to marry you" I think it would be funny and we listen to My Bestfriends Wedding soundtrack quite a bit!
