Moving my date again?

Ashley, on July 9, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14
We went ahead and got married but it was limited and no reception, we rescheduled for 10-10-2020, but it seems like this isn’t gonna blow over like we thought in the beginning. I don’t want to sacrifice my guest list or my vision of a wedding because of Covid, and I feel like the masks will just be really annoying. So I’m wondering if anyone else is thinking of pushing their wedding back again? Should I just wait until there is a vaccine in 2 years? What’s the best way to handle this?

It’s a personal decision and depends on your circumstances. If your dream wedding is important and you can wait for two years, the go ahead and postpone. Others like me, can not postpone. I’m in contract, I’m 31 and ready to start having a family, my parents are getting older, I don’t want to wait two years and next year is a bit maybe if the virus will be fine (unlikely). Also, I don’t want to risk the venue going out of business and losing out on thousands. I’ve been seeing It happen! We are making the best of it by October. I’ve come to terms and face reality that we may have to wear masks. I will not wear it for the ceremony or photos though.

Wow typo on “ bit maybe if the virus will be fine (unlikely).”. Meant to say it’s a BIG maybe if the virus will be fine but unlikely next year.

I think I can wait. But the venue might be out of business and that was by far what I spent the most on. But they would have to refund me right? Like if I can’t have my wedding there then I’m entitled to a refund because I didn’t get to use the services?
I hate that you can’t wait for your dream wedding, but I know it’ll still be magical. The Facebook wedding we had was honestly amazing even if it wasn’t anything that I had hoped for.

I don’t know, most places have in contract that protect the business. A lot of brides have been dealing with issues trying to even get a deposit back.

What does it say about cancellations in your contract? I know that some places when they went out of business some brides took it to court but they just received some of it back.

My parents have the contract filed somewhere, I’ll have to have them look at it for me, because I moved to a different stafe

Thank you! It will be okay...I’m just grieving right now, feeling a little sad and exhausted...taking some time for self care.

Be positive too, for me I felt like I could stop stressing about it being perfect, and I had more time to plan it out.
Grieve all you need, take some bubble baths, cry, eat Mac and cheese, buy yourself something nice, and watch all the romantic comedies. It’s awful to change the date, But you can still do something special on that day. I really feel for you.

Hi Ashley! I'd definitely review the contract and also see if they'll let you postpone again, and if they are any contingencies on rescheduling! Smiley heart

They are switching owners at the end of the year, so my only hope is that the new owners will still do weddings.

Oh yikes! I'd definitely get fully signed documentation if you reschedule to a date under new ownership!
