MOTHER/DAUGHTER DANCE?

MrsBanks, on April 17, 2017 at 2:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So when I was little, My mom would always grab me when this certain song came on the radio, and said "one day you will have to dance at your wedding, and I want you to know how," and she would twirl me around, and dip me, and she essentially taught me how to dance(the basics anyway, I STILL have no rhythm lol). I was thinking about doing a Mother/Daughter dance, along with my Father/Daughter dance to kind of pay homage to her... I was wanting to play the same song we used to dance to and everything. And I wanted to say a few words beforehand to explain why the dance is important to me, and surprise her with the whole thing. Would doing this be too much, since im doing the Father/Daughter dance as well?

Nope! It's not too much. I think it sounds very nice.

I think if you are having a first dance with your spouse, a father/daughter dance and presumably a mother/son dance it is a LOT for guests to sit through. Can you somehow combine the father/daughter with your mom?

I think it sounds sweet. I'm thinking of doing a mother/daughter dance since my dad passed away a few years ago.

One of my BMs did this at her wedding because her parents are divorced and it was so cute! I love the idea if you have something special like that with your mom. She also did a father/daughter dance and her husband did a mother/son, but it didn't seem too long. If you feel like it might be, you can always ask your band/DJ to do shortened versions of all 3 songs.

I'm doing two parent dances. Less than 4 minutes for both.

I like the idea, but be careful you're not starting to bore your guests with too many dances and speeches. Shorten the songs if you can like PPs mentioned, and keep the intro speech to your mother/daughter song short and sweet.

I think you should do what YOU want to do! And if the guest have to sit a little longer than normal, they will be just fine! It's YOUR day!! Remember that. You can't please everyone and there will always be guests who complain and talk crap. As long as YOU are happy and having a great time, that's all that matters. I think it's a super sweet idea and your mom will love and appreciate it!

I love this idea and I will be doing this as well Smiley smile I will be dancing with my Mom, Step-Dad, and my Dad!! I can see some poster's point about being time consuming but as long as you keep it short and sweet I think everyone will be more worried about wiping away their tears than watching their clocks!!
