I want to start this off by saying a love my future mother-in-law, but she texted me today with the idea that she might make her dress for the wedding. She was thinking that we could go to the store to look at fabrics together for the dress. While I know she should wear something she loves and is comfortable in, I'm not totally in love with the idea of her making her own dress. Our wedding rather formal. In fact, it is black tie optional so I'm not sure a homemade dress will really fit the vibe we are going for. She is also more of a tomboy and doesn't often wear dresses so I am not sure what type of dress she is even envisioning. I have only seen her wear a dress once. Lastly, she is a huge procrastinator so I'm not sure how far in advance she would even get the dress done. She made the comment to my fiance that if I didn't like it once it was done she would buy a dress, but I would hate for her to spend all of this time and money on a dress that might look terrible. Any advice?
