Any ideas of what I can get the FH's mom? Am I supposed to get dad a gift too?

I think it would be nice to get the dad a gift too! What do they like? Maybe get something tailored to things they enjoy

What does she like? I would ship for her like it's her birthday. Yes, both parents normally get a gift.

Both parents typically receive a gift, but from their own respective child.

I'm getting my mom and dad gifts and FH is taking care of his parents. Totally fine and expected.

Is this generally if they are contributing to the financial aspect of the wedding or just in general the parents get gifts?

    Honestly? No idea.

I really don't know much about wedding etiquette! I thought I was supposed to gift them something. The other posters have indicated that's not the case. I think FH and I have decided to instead gift them something as a couple. Same for my parents too!

Traditionally, if you have a good relationship with your parents, you would give them a gift to kind of symbolize you moving on to the next chapter of your life and creating your own family. Kind of a “thanks for raising me” thing. It doesn’t typically have anything to do with their financial contributions.

We're giving joint gifts to each of our immediate family members. I picked out gifts that will last (quilt, hat, necklace, shirt, garden art, coasters, bag).

Yes, both parents get a gift. For his parents, the gifts should either be from both of you or from the groom. You can get them a joint gift or one for each of them. If you do choose to get them a gift that’s only from you, the groom should also get them one as they’re his parents. They’re basically gifts to thank them for their help, support, love, raising him, etc, so he needs to be part of that in some way since they raised him.

I would definitely get your own parents a small gift - maybe something personalized. For my mother I plan on getting her a personalized handkerchief. I know she'll love it and be using it day of lol. Check out etsy they have a lot of clever or cute parent gifts. Even giving them a wedding album or framed picture is a nice idea as well.

I had already planned on getting my own parents something — I was just asking about FH's mother. I guess it's just easier to shop for my mom! She loves Precious Moments figurines, so I'm getting her this:

Omg that is a great idea!! For FH mom I’d check out etsy for some gifts for her. I think you might want to go towards “thanks for raising such a wonderful man” kind of thing. Or maybe if she’s into jewelry?

I’m getting FH’s mom something similar to this. We are also getting his parents a gift box of wine and snacks from our venue.Mother of the Groom 2
