I agree with the people below posting that it's probably over thinking. I do see some similarity, but I don't think it's intentional. Everyone will know you're the bride. I think we get wrapped up in a lot and stress gets to us!

I think you’re overthinking it. The dress she shared with you looks like a lot of MOB/MOG dresses I’ve seen at weddings.

You’re overthinking. That’s a very typical MOB/MOG dress. No one is going to confuse your FMIL for the bride.

I agree. She’s picking that looks like a MOB or MOG dress and will look very nice. She will not be confused with the bride at all. Don’t stress over things like this.

I would ignore it. It’s not worth drama. Even if a guest thinks it’s awkwardly similar, they’ll be judging HER not you— so i wouldn’t worry about it, and I’d try to not give it another thought. It won’t affect your day much, and you’d be surprised at even how few photos you’ll really be in together, so it won’t be overly noticeable down the road anyhow.

You look absolutely gorgeous, I LOVE your dress!!! Soo pretty!! I wouldn't worry about it. Her dress does kind of have some similarities to yours, but I'm certain that wasn't on purpose. Her style is very common for mother dresses and I'm sure she just chose it because it was what she was comfortable in. Her dress isn't bridal at all, so don't worry. And honestly I don't think most people will really even notice what she's wearing because they'll be looking at you and your FH the entire time.

I agree, you are probably overthinking it. But I think we all start overthinking everything after months of wedding planning! LOL Sidenote though, you look gorgeous in your wedding dress!!

Agree with PP's, don't worry about this at all. She doesn't look anything like a bride, and your dress is gorgeous!

You may be overthinking it but personally, I’d be a little peeved too. All the dress silhouettes in the world & she has to have the same one as you?

Nope, I'd say something. The dress is a different color but it looks to similar for my taste. Perhaps make a big girls day of it and go shopping together for a dress that will be flattering to her and will set her apart from you.

I think that she should get a darker color. Usually MOG/MOB are in purples/navys... The lace+full ball gown is a bit too close.

If you're not good at confrontation, is there a sister or a sister in law that can deliver the message? Can you mom talk to her about dress in general and try to have a discussion?

Even if she doesn't change her mind...
