Mother of the Bride Dress, Sexy & Sleek?

I agree that mother of the bride dresses tend to be a bit matronly. I would instead just look at department stores for formal evening gowns. My mom found a gorgeous mermaid-style evening gown at Lord & Taylor for my formal wedding.

Azazie has some good options! She could also get an evening gown or even a bridesmaid dress.

On Morilee.com, Madeline Gardner Mother of the bride dresses are well tailored, and about one in three is either body hugging or off the shoulders, or otherwise figure revealing. Otherwise, you will do as well with evening gowns.

I would have her go to a departmental store or look online for evening gowns. Macy’s, Saks, Nordstrom etc. Asos has pretty dresses as well.

Neiman's, couturecandy, years ago I found really nice gowns on Bluefly. Bluefly is more on the designer side. However, they may have fallen off but you try them you will have to search their inventory is big.

I know my girls will be the same way. They see some of my work clothes and tell me I don’t have to dress like a grandma yet LOL

Just look for regular evening dresses. Mother of the bride dresses tend to be either conservative and matures them more thsn they want. I had the same thing happen with my mom. I had her try on like 20 dresses and she just asked for some type of sleeve and some blind. Its an open shoulder gown and still youthful. So she doesnt need to wear a 2 piece. She got it at jc pennys and davids had the same one for like 150 more. Macys, pennys , Dillardsllards, or Nordstrom rack.

Same thing with my mom! Most of the dresses we looked at seem like old grandma style dresses. She wanted something cute with a v neck and a slit, so we looked at some bridesmaids dresses and special occasion dresses instead.

Hi there! My mom and I struggled with finding her a sexy, beautiful dress because all the online “MOB” dresses were pretty boring/matronly. We went to local bridal boutiques and ended up finding a a bridesmaids dress that she LOVES.we are adding a slit to it!

I'm a mom of the bride, and found a gorgeous evening gown at Rent the Runway [I purchased it]. I agree that it's better to look at formal/evening gowns. Mine had also been sold at Nieman Marcus but was sold out. Both my daughter and I absolutely love my dress and it definitely has a 'red carpet' vibe.
