Mother of Bride dresses

I think it depends on your wedding and the overall level of formality. I’ve seen MOB wear ball gowns to black tie or very formal weddings. I’ve also seen MOB wear a nice “Sunday church” dress at a backyard wedding.

My mother is going to be wearing a sundress with a cute little jacket at my wedding. My celebration will be as casual as we can get.

I think one rule that is usually followed is that the MOB should not wear white or ivory.

The only thing that's universally unacceptable is to wear white. This is what my mom is wearing to my wedding.

I agree with PP it depends on the wedding what the MOB wears. They should dress to suite the style of the wedding and venue. Here is what I wore to my son’s wedding.

My mom fell in love with a bridesmaids dress. She's walking me down the aisle with my dad, so I kind of thought she'd buy something with more pizazz, but she loves it. That's all that matters in the end.

We had a semi-formal/formal wedding. My mother wore this dress.My husband's mother (in maroon) & stepmother (in the floral dress) wore these.

Our wedding is semi-formal, and my mom plans on wearing this to my wedding! I think it really depends on the formality of your wedding, but in general moms are free to choose anything they'd like

This is the dress my mom found and loved. We just happened to be walking through Macy’s and she saw it and HAD ago try it on! ☺️

My mom still hasn't gotten her dress yet but my FMIL got hers this evening and it's really pretty but kinda sexy okay really sexy🤷 it's not a white it's called taupe and it's sparkly too when light hits it too. I just wonder if it will look okay in photos and I'm next to her my dress is an Ivory Moscato..
