Mother in Law Dress Shopping

Allysa, on December 30, 2019 at 2:40 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4
Hello! So my future mother in Law wants to come dress shopping with me. It’s not that I don’t want her to come but I feel like for the very first experience I kind of just want it to be my sister and my best friend as I recently lost my Mom. I know I’m going to end up going to multiple stores so she can come along to one of them but just for the very first one I want it me n my girls. Am I wrong for that? She doesn’t have a daughter and my FH is her only child so I know she’s super excited to be involved she wants to be in on everything though like she just said the other day she is definitely coming for cake testing. How should I tell her for my first store I want it just me n my girls? Do I just say it outright?

I wouldn't tell her that you're going to the first store at all. It would just upset her and she won't know the difference if you have her come along to the next trip anyways. Just let your sister and best friend know not to spill the beans.

My FMIL wanted to go with me too! However I wanted it to be my family first only to get a feel for what I like as my FMIL can be VERY overbearing and I’m a pushover so I would waste my time trying on things she liked..

I went with my family the day after Christmas when I was in town with them and plan on take FMIL Friday. She doesn't know that I already went and doesn’t have to know, lol

I invited my FMIL and FSIL along with my sisters and mom to my first appointment. FMIL and FSIL were very appreciative about including them. They were so happy and excited. I did not buy a dress that day. I made other appointments where I only took my sisters and mom. But at least FMIL and FSIS felt like they were included and really turned out to be special for everyone.

I invited my mom n FMIL, she wanted to feel included and shes my FH only child so I did it. But I can see where you're coming from; I'd be honest and let her know that you want your best friend and sister at the first store, n she can come to the second one. What's your FH think?
