Mother & Father gifts

Amanda, on July 8, 2019 at 9:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
I need some help/ideas for gifts for my mom and my dad for my wedding. I feel like I dont know what is acceptable and what isnt almost?

I found a cute cufflink idea for my dad, but is that enough?

My mom is hard because she doesnt like jewelry but will def be crying non stop so I thought the handkerchief idea was cute.

Is that enough or should I give them more? Help!

We're making all of the parents and FHs grandma photo books once our professional pictures come back.

Thank you. Smiley laugh The moms are the types who need pictures of everything and grandma may not be able to make it so we want to send her something as well.

We made our parents photobooks of our engagement photos for like $13 from Walmart and our parents LOVE them. But those were a "just because" kind of thing. I'm getting my dad a hanky that says "Keep your s*** together" with my name/wedding date but that's only because it's who we are as a father/daughter. I'm going to do picture frames for my future in laws.

I've seen cufflinks, beer stuff, handkerchief, as standard dad presents. Unusual dad presents are personalized axes I saw and loved.
Jewelery is common for mum's, also handkerchief, I've seen compact mirrors too.
Unusual mom gifts are more like purses or photobooks.
I was thinking of personalized fleece sweaters for all of them. Mums run cold, dad's go through the airport a lot so a good light fleece is super useful

I was actually just talking to my FH about this! Do they get it day or wedding or before or after? I was thinking these for my parents. I told him idk about his parents. Be doesnt like shopping for his parents (they are so difficult) his dad likes pretty much anything which makes it easier but his mom hates everything and will compare values of gifts... she doesnt have a daughter only him so shes been living vicariously through my mother and I and she gets jealous so quick. She got upset because she wanted to gift us her champagne flutes from her wedding that said mr and mrs but my mom actually bought us our own (my wedding is the only wedding my mom gets to be apart, one sister got married in the park at the drop of a hate without telling anyone and another sister just passed away and then my other 2 sisters are my dads mids from his first marriage)

For my Dad, I’m going to give him a nice double frame. On one side will be a photo of us dancing at a wedding when I was 16. The other side will be a spot for a photo of us dancing at my wedding. I’m planning to give it to him the day of.
My mother passed away 4 years ago, but I plan to use a silver letter K (her name was Kelly) keychain she always carried as a charm on my bouquet. My stepmother has been amazingly helpful in planning and I bought her a beautiful embroidered bag and plan to pay for her hair and makeup. I may try to find something more sentimental for her.

I have been wondering about this and I think we are planning on getting them a stay at a bed and breakfast or hotel in a cute town full of wineries. A little break to celebrate their love and thank you for helping us celebrate ours on our big day.

My parents are not in my life therefore won't be at my wedding. But, My FILs are incredible so I really wanted to get them something I knew they'd like and use. They are retired so I knew cuff links and such were not an option because they'd only be worn once. Im definitely getting this printed on a canvas for them. We may get them something else as well. Im not sure what 'etiquette 'rules state on gifts for parents but in my opinion, etiquette isnt always right.
