Mother dress disappointment

I found the dress of my dreams!!! My grandma had planned on giving me some money towards my dress but now that my mom doesn’t like it and convinced my gma not to like it.. she will no longe be giving me any money to help pay for it. So now I can’t afford it myself and I’m really upset and sad!!! My mom is a toxic nightmare for reference and I’m just sad and don’t know what to do. The dress is Stevie by Made with love and I’m trying to find a used one online but still can’t afford even the used price. AHH has anyone been here? I would go work more to help pay for it but I’m dealing with a chronic pain condition which is debilitating and so I’m just in a bad spot.

    That's really pretty. I agree with PP - there's plenty of places and styles that'll look like that for cheaper.

    I think there are a lot of beautiful lace dresses around now that it's coming back in style, I think you can definitely find a dress you love in your budget. I think it really stinks of your mom to convince your grandmother not to help but unfortunately you can't change that. On the plus side if you're paying for your own dress you don't need to listen to anyone else's opinions. So when you find one in budget you can buy it

    Does your Grandma really have the money? Because if your mom subsidizes her, or will have to later in life, I can see mom getting upset

    The dress is pretty, but as PPs said there are so many dresses like that for less. Try not to get discouraged! I'm sorry you're having to go through this with your mom and grandma

    Thanks all. Unfortunately I am extremely picky. I have tried very hard to find a replacement for this dress and am struggling. Really like the thick floral lace. I’m open to a different dress I just haven’t found one to top this. I won’t give up!!! Thanks again 😊

    I've seen that dress in person and it's stunning. It's definitely unique and I think you would be hard-pressed to find a replacement. the picture does not do it justice.. have your family members seen it on you? That might change their minds. What don't they like about it?

    Why can't you afford it? Like is it beyond reach to spread out payments? I know with my dress I put my down payment on it the day I got it. I needed to come up with the remaining portion of the half of it by 2 months later and then I had until July to pay it off. I just dropped 200 here and 200 there till it was paid off.

    Sorry to hear that I would definitely look elsewhere for a more affordable dress that my mom wouldn't be able to see since toxic negative people aren't allowed to ruin your happiness.

    Sorry to hear your trouble! I would say look at the preowned wedding dress sites, poshmark, and craigslist for the next couple of months! As summer wedding season comes to a close, your dress could be listed for sale. You have a little bit of time before your wedding, so don't rush into settling for something you don't love!

    Was it the see through bodice they didn’t like? My mom/aunt were very clear they had issues with that when I tried on something similar. But liked the dress when the sales lady said it could be lined.

    Maybe take your grandma with you to look at dresses and show her the one you like. Leave your mom behind. If you think she really did convince her not to like it, seeing you in the dress in person could possibly help

    You can also negotiate with the preownedwedding dress sellers. I got my dress for $800 but was listed at $2k bc I offered and it was sitting for a long time.
