Mother and Mother of the Groom Gifts

Taylor, on January 23, 2020 at 9:08 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
Good morning! I cannot for the life of me figure out what I’m getting my mom and my FH mom as gifts at the wedding. I need nice sentimental (possibly tear jerking) gift ideas. I 9 times out 10 try to also give sentimental gifts so I’d like to keep that going. I kinda want my moms gift to involve my granny who passed away this past summer. And possibly have my MIL gift to possibly involve her late husband. But they don’t have to. They can be solely about my moms. (background my FH father passed away 20 years ago this feb. my father isn’t invited to the wedding. So it’s mainly about our mothers.) Thank you for the help 💛

Maybe you could get them pins for their corsages with photos of their late loved ones?

They are getting wrist corsages. But I also don’t know when they’d ever use those again.

I found these really pretty lace embroidered handkerchiefs on Etsy. Some shops will let you order a set of them. I think this is what I’m going to do for my mom, step mom and MIL.
We are also doing a rose ceremony (what it’s called ??) after during our unity braid where we are presenting our moms with a rose. You could do something like that too.

We are doing a guess the “rose ceremony” we are leaving a chair open on both of their sides. I’m giving my mother two roses (my great grandma and my granny. They passed away six months from each other). And hes giving on to his mom for his dad.

I found this great bracelet on Amazon (sorry, it doesn't cover her late husband, but it is sentimental). It was $13 so quite the bargain, and it comes with 2 bracelets. I also found a card that says "Thank you for raising the man of my dreams". My mom didn't really help much so I found her a solitaire earring and necklace set just to be kind. But if she HAD helped, I likely would have given her a necklace about moms being best friends, etc. David's Bridal has a TON of these little necklaces on sale that say something sweet about "Mother of the bride". Honestly if you type in "Mother of the bride gift" into Amazon it pops up all kinds of cute, sentimental stuff. Like there's a jewelry box that says "All that I am I owe to my mother" or little jewelry or trinkets that say "Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, forever your little girl". Lots of great stuff like that.

I gave my Mom a custom frame with a photo of she and I from my bridal portraits and it said "You held my hand for many years, you have supported me through both joy and tears, and even though I am married and on my own my heart will forever be tied to home." I got his Mom a frame with her favorite engagement photo of her son and I and it was laser engraved with the words "I knew the day I met him that he would be the one. He stole my heart and made it his, that person is your son. You raised him to be gentle, yet strong and loyal too. Now that I am to be his wife, i want to give my thanks to you, for all you have done throughout the years to make him who he has become. He means the world to me and more. Thank you for sharing your son." At the bottom it has our names and wedding date. His Mom got hers at the rehearsal because I didn't want to ruin her make up at the wedding because of the emotions.

I was the MOB, and daughter and SIL each wrote each of us parents very heartfelt, meaningful cards.... There is nothing in the world that could possibly have meant more to me than those. Especially the one to me from SIL.... They started dating sophomore year of high school and were together 8 years when they got married. SIL had been part of our family practically forever. He's not super close to his own family and they are not sentimental people, so when we wrote me a very personal note telling me what it's meant to him to have me in his life, Yep! I cried like a baby.... There is nothing in the world they could have bought for me that would have meant more to me. Good luck! Smiley heart
