Mostly greenery bridal bouquet?

Finally mrs.jkr, on February 27, 2015 at 8:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Im starting to think about doing this, I just live greenery! I'm planning on possibly having mostly greens (laurel, eucalyptus, ferns, ivy) with a like maybe 3 real flowers and 2-3 of my homemade crepe paper flowers... And having the girls have greenery bouquets with only 1-3 flowers. Does this sound like a good idea? I'll look up and put up inspiration pics at home (I hate the mobile pic posting option)... But just from that description... It won't seem empty, right?

maybe me with something from pics one and two and the bm's with pic 3, but with a couple of flowers in it?

Not at all! I think they are gorgeous and was actually considering one myself! I think they are also a bit cheaper than floral bouquets not significantly though

I like the greenery, too. Just don't let it be so big that it dwarfs you. As far as flowers, I'd go all paper or all real -- not a mixture.

Your dress is GORGEOUS! Wow. Unique and really lovely. I think a greenery bouquet would complement it nicely.

This is a growing trend due to Pinterest. Two years ago, the only way we could get most brides to agree to any greenery at all was to tell them that they had two choices if they wanted no greenery: They'll either have a much smaller bouquet or they'll pay a lot more money to bulk up the bouquet with more flowers.

Although greenery bouquets are not my personal favorites, I can see the appeal. A well done greenery bouquet has to rely on lots of different textures to work. If this becomes a serious trend, I promise the prices on greenery fillers will rise dramatically. It will no longer be an inexpensive option. And please, despite what Pinterest reflects, these massively oversized bouquets -- another new trend -- are not only very expensive, but typically quite out of proportion with the bride herself. They tend to overwhelm her and they do become the focus of the photos.

Oh! I will not make it too big for myself. Part of the reason I want greenery is so that I can get a big enough bouquet for me, I'm a relatively stockily built 5'10-11" woman haha
