Most Useless Registry Gift

WWKatie, on October 27, 2015 at 1:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

What did you and FI register for that really has absolutely no practical use, but you just had to have it?

I think for us it was either the margarita glasses or the salt & pepper shakers in the shape of pigs lol Glasses are useful, but how often will be make margaritas? And for the shakers....I just loved the pigs Smiley smile

What about you?

FH won't let me register for anything we don't need! It's uber frustrating, i want some fun stuff! I think the craziest he's let me get was a fuzzy blanket for the couch. He really doesn't like registries because he feels like it's asking for gifts, he doesn't get that people appreciate having some guidance. It's probably been our one and only wedding related disagreement.

A towel warmer. I walked past it when we were registering and scanned it. DH kept trying to get me to take it off the whole time we were engaged. His best friend actually got me a towel warmer, not the one we registered for, a more expensive Brookstone one.

But our bathroom has one plug in and there's no where near the plug in to put the warmer. So I'm either going to have to keep it in our bedroom and preheat my towels and hope they stay warm, or wait until we buy a house. Ugh such a first world problem.

DH insisted that we needed a toilet paper stand. I wanted to remove it, but I knew he would have a fit. Of course someone bought it. When we were putting away the gifts I saw him literally throw the thing in the back of his closet.

I was so picky when we registered because we already had everything we needed, we lived together for 6 years before the wedding. Of all the things we received I would say my waffle maker will be used the least but only because all the other stuff was towels, sheets and glasses etc.

Also if you got a Margaritaville blender you could put those glasses to good use, I love mine!!

Well.. it's more like I find this useless, not DH.

He registered us for a wooden foot massager.

    So, yea.

A pancake griddle. We didn't need it, we have no room for it, but oh well.

I got a clock shaped like a pig.

I love it. It's probably the only gift from BB&B he liked.

Probably a cocktail shaker set but no one bought it. Actually, I went to BB&B this past weekend with my coupons thinking I might buy a few of the items from our registry that I really wanted. The ones I wanted were all out of stock and I decided I could get them cheaper from Amazon or Home Goods. So I left and went home to browse Amazon. I guess there is a reason I didn't already have the things we registered for - most aren't so necessary.

I added a avocado knife. It's kind of useless, but my friend agreed it's genius and she is probably getting one too. And it's only $10. I like the look of shakers, but I hate non-freshly ground pepper, so no shakers on our registry, but I added salt and pepper grinders Smiley smile

BBB...not sure how he found it and we're probably the only ones to ever register for it.

AND someone bought it for us! His uncle bought us a ton of things but that was one of them.

    I was like.......................really?

From my first wedding.... the cake cutting set (which got lost in the divorce) and the two sets of champagne flutes I have in the back of my bar, still in their boxes. They aren't even matching flutes... they're both pretty, but they don't match or anything. And I don't drink that much champagne... wine is a different story! LOL

Just saying, I use my margarita glasses pretty often.

Not sure how often we will use toasting flutes or an angel food cake pan, however.

ETA: I'm also unsure about the airfryer. It's essentially a small convection oven, so maybe we should just register for a convection oven? Especially at that price point?? Wasn't my idea.

BIL got us this amazing fire pit and cover that we registered for. I wanted this thing sooooo bad even though we definitely do not need it. We haven't used it because FIL won't leave us alone about how safe it is, where to burn it, how we will burn it, where will all that smoke go???? So it just sits in our basement collecting dust. I think DH and I both feel too guilty about all of his dad's questions to start a fire in it!

Kate spade everything. Are there cheaper options? Sure. Do I want the cheaper options? No. I'm a Kate spade addict.
