Moscato Underlay

Cari, on April 1, 2020 at 9:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Right before this virus broke out, I chose a dress with a moscato underlay and 2 layers of white ivory lace overtop. I think it is stunning and it is so soft looking. Because it had those 2 ivory layers - it’s not a bold contrast ... but enough to give a soft moscato hue. It’s just definitely not a crisp white that goes with anything.

As I was busy saying yes to the dress - I didn’t realize just how much that color might complicate bridesmaids dresses. I’ve googled a million combinations of moscato wedding dress with bridesmaids. I’ve even tried searching blush.
Because of the virus - the store is now closed and I can’t get to really see how everything looks together in person. If color wasn’t a factor - I would be choosing soft grey, light blush, or light peach bridesmaid dress.
But now, I don’t think those colors will make my dress pop. I think I might have to go into a darker color palette which might not feel like me. We looked at a few combinations that day in the store. A vibrant peach seemed to look good. I wasn’t completely sold though, bc it was so different than what I envisioned with the soft colors. But, I realized kind of quickly that my dove grey and blush ideas might not work anymore. I still said yes to the dress and expected to just come home and search to find a million ideas. I had no idea that my searches wouldn’t return much.
Now, I’m a little nervous because I don’t know what color is going to look best. Any other moscato brides out there? What are your thoughts on bridesmaid dresses?

I personally would love gray, mint green, any shade of blue even a gray blue —- I would stay away from pinks, peach and blush only because the dress does homage those tones and as you said you want to Pop

I personally believe you are overthinking this.
Consider Moscato is simply a shade of white. Your dress is still in the white family.

Mine is champagne/ivory and bridesmaid dresses are light blue.
I think any color works just fine.

My dress is a Stella York with a moscato (Pinkish) underskirt with an ivory lace overlay. I would suggest sticking with gray dresses out of the lighter colors you mentioned. I think going with peach or pink bridesmaids dresses will just complicate your life bc you don’t want a shade of either that clashes with your dress. I also had to work my flower choices around the color of my dress so I didn’t choose a shade of pink or peach that totally clashes with my dress.

Hi Taylor, I haven’t been sharing any photos as my fiancé is super passionate about not knowing one detail. We aren’t even doing a first look. He says the image he has of me is blank and he wants to keep it that way. For that reason, I’ve decided not to show anyone else photos either. It just feels weird for other people to see it if that makes sense? But I realize that is sort of complicated now that I need help with color. I think a lot of people are familiar with the moscato underpays though.

This is my favorite response. It’s kind of a relief to hear someone say it’s just overthinking.

It was weird - when we held some of the colors up - the vibrant peach is what made mine pop the most. I hear you though on being too close.

Yes wine and burgundy seems to be what people do the most - it’s just very different than what I first pictured.

When you say Moscato, I think a pinkish shade! If that's the case, I'd look into a neutral color. You could do your original idea and use grey! My bridesmaids are wearing a taupe color. Stay neutral with the other colors and maybe white flowers with soft shades of pink? Good luck!!
