Morning/afternoon wedding timeline

Leslee, on April 25, 2016 at 12:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

So I'm exactly 2 months out from the big day and am trying to start planning my timeline. Since FH and I are paying for the majority of things, an afternoon wedding was the most budget friendly. Are there any other afternoon brides out there with a good timeline that you would recommend? Our ceremony will start at 11 am and we have our reception venue until 4pm (really 5, but we have to end at 4 to allow our vendors to clean up before the evening event at the venue).

You're getting so close!! Do you have timelines from your photographer and makeup/hair stylists? That will affect most of the pre-ceremony timeline. Are you doing any pictures before the ceremony?

No not yet. I'm still trying to determine my hair for the day (I know I'm behind but in working on it!) and as far as photography it will be more of me and the bridal party getting readying, I don't plan to see FH before walking down the aisle so the pictures with him would be post ceremony.

I don't know how helpful my timeline will be, since I'm doing my own makeup/hair. Also, we are not doing a first look and have under 20 guests. So, we are saving any real group photos for after the ceremony. Anyway, here it is:

7:00am or 7:30am Start for Makeup and Hair to be finished around 9:30am (as well as time to fit in a snack or some light breakfast).

10:00am Ceremony (site is 10-15 minutes away, so we would leave around 9:45am to get there)

    10:30am Family/Group Pictures

10:50am or 11:00am Guests go to reception venue for appetizers/refreshments and we start our bride/groom photos

about 12:00pm Reception begins: first dances, parent dances, and prayer

    12:15pm Food Start

Our event is pretty low key, so I don't know how much that helps! Just make sure to discuss things with your vendors. I talked to my photographer about this timeline already to make sure it was enough time. That will be important to get from them a gauge on what kind of time they need.
