Morning Wedding - Who has time for makeup?!

Candy, on September 9, 2013 at 11:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Okay, so the more I think about this, I'm trying to figure out what time to start getting ready. For a 10 am wedding outside I'm having one heck of a time working the time in reverse to get a handle on makeup and hair.

For those that have done this part, how long do you think this will take? Where do I look for help in getting someone to do this? We were going to have an afternoon wedding but plans change. I didn't take this into account, the spa and hair studio won't be open at 8 am! (Not sure I will be either!)

Bestie got married at 11AM and here's how the day went (we all slept at her place the night before to make it easier) there were 6 bridesmaids:

    6AM wake up alarm

    6:30 starbucks run

7AM started hair and make up (we did our own)

    9:45 car arrived

10AM arrived at venue and went straight for the bridal suite to do touch ups, take photos, and sipped mimosas

    10:45 processional started

Oooh that sounds kind of tight! How are you doing your hair? Can you go for a simple style? We are doing mine curly with a braid and are going to allow about 2 hours for it but that's partly because my hair rebels against curling so it'll take a bit more time. Smiley tongue Definitely see if you can do a trial run on your hair (makeup too) to see how long it'll take.

Depends how many people are going to be having their hair done. Also how many stylists will be available at the salon. For my wedding I leaned heavily on the judgement of the stylists ahead of time. I told them when I wanted to leave their salon and how many people I had and what types of dos they would want. The salon factored in extra time and we ended up done early. It really depends also are you doing a trial run? I recommend it. I'm glad I did I changed my hair dramatically after my trial and knowing what did and didn't work we were able to keep things flowing well all morning.

I guess I'm going to need someone to help that morning! LOL! I can stay at the resort the night before. Wanted to do a large loose curl that had areas pulled back/up and a pretty clip. (Looking for a nice comb with a dragonfly)

It's pretty apparent that I will need to stay at the location the night before!

For a 10 am ceremony, I would have the bride completed by 8:30 am at the latest (this is IF you are wanting to get some "getting ready" shots beforehand). You will definitely want to begin at 6 am, and you will need to find a company that can send 2-3 girls to get you all ready in time. I have started wedding parties as early as 4 am (granted this was a 10 person wedding party), so it really depends on how many girls. If you're talking 4-5 people, you should be able to begin at 6 am and have everyone done by 8:30 am (this is if your hair and makeup vendor can work quickly and still give you the quality of work you're paying for). Good luck!

In addition to what everyone else said, if you want curls or waves, maybe you can ask the salon to set your hair in rollers the night before to cut down on getting-ready time?

Sleep in curlers or have your hair in hot curlers while your makeup is getting done. Start this process around 7/7:30.

My stylist said it will take about 1/2 to 2 hours to do my hair and make up. Hair should be BONE DRY.

Please account for time to change into your wedding dress, undergarments, shoes, travel time to wedding, time to talk to day of coordinator for last minute things if you need to... any pictures you're planning on taking before the 10:00 ceremony...

I think you should be wide awake by 6am.

    Wake up at 5:30am

    Hair and Make up 6:00-8:00.

    8:30-9:00 Buffer for lateness

    After 9am, should be ready

Speak with the salon owner. I bet they would open early for you if multiple girls are getting makeup and hair. Hit the Starbuck's drive-thru on the way and something to much on while you are there.

We're doing ours at 12 or so, and I was worried about the same thing! I'm having a hairstylist friend who I trust do my hair the morning of, and I'm doing my own makeup. I'm just going to have to explain to her that I need her to stay at the hotel the night before, so that we can get mah hairs did on time. Smiley winking (I hope I can find a non-rude way to put it, though!)

Rachel.. Let me know if you figure out how to do that, AND then tell me! LOL . I am having my eyelashes done next week to see if I like it. They glue individual lashes?

The Girls have decided that this is a Must Try. I dunno about it. LOL.

I think I have a good idea of the time line, staying at the resort the night before since we are also having the rehearsal dinner there.

Set the hair in the big cushion rollers (and try and sleep!?!) up at 5:30, hit the concierge for some fruit, bagel and coffee and then get ready, have photos etc and then just go down for the wedding!

Sounds like everyone has a good plan in place, now just to get everyone else to play along.
