Morning of for the groom

Serena , on August 18, 2019 at 12:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 17
So, I was told grooms should not be going golfing or anything like that the morning of the wedding due to the potential of getting a sunburn or just being worn out the rest of the day. My FH wants to do something or at least know what to do to stay busy so that he and the groomsmen are not bored. Our ceremony starts at 3. I told him that going to breakfast and sleeping in and just taking time to be slow that morning would honestly do the trick but is there any other suggestions? I was even told that he can roam around the area and make sure that everything is set up the way we want it as well as greeting guests but he seems to not believe this will take very long. We will have a photographer taking pictures of them getting ready the morning of as well.

Our ceremony was also at 3 but pictures started at 1 so he had to be ready by then. He started getting ready a little after noon so the morning went by fast. He ate lunch then got ready. Time will go faster for your groom then he realizes. Having wedding pictures before the ceremony will help him have something to do and free up your time after the ceremony. Even if you don't do a first look you can still take most of your pictures with your wedding party and VIPs.

I don’t think you need to coordinate his morning. He’s an adult, he can do whatever he wants until it’s time to get ready.

Golfing may relax him. Please let him spend his morning how he wants. It would be like him
telling you not get get hair and make up done or whatever you are doing, cause you may get tired or something. Or you may have a reaction to the make up.

My FH wants to go paddleboarding the morning of. My concern is he tends to run late for things, lol.

My FH will be watching a soccer game. (TBF, one of his jobs is a sportswriter, and he covers the team that will be playing... obviously he is not on assignment that day.) I don't know if I'd call it relaxing...

My FH and his groomsmen have a heavy to do list unfortunately. I wish he could just relax but our caterer is not providing ice or drinks ($2 a person per drink NO Thanks!) so they will be going and picking up ice the morning of and also moving our tables at the venue as we don’t have a coordinator and the venue won’t adjust the tables to how I want them. They will start early so hopefully they have time to grab lunch at a local restaurant and a few beers to relax the nerves. I say let him do what he wants, if he wants to gold just remind him to wear sunscreen, eat, and to be on time.

O just let the man go golfing, lol. He’s grown. If you’re worried about sun burn, stress that you’d appreciate his applying sunscreen regularly. The guys don’t have as much to do to get ready as us. They need to entertain themselves.

I had the same issue because we didnt do any bachelor or bachelorette parties. We will be getting married in Jamaica at sunset. The guys are going to rent jet skis the morning of but that doesn't take that long. I just said no more than 2 beers before the wedding and not to get sun soaked and worn out before the wedding. You can get very worn out being in the sun with free drinks flowing at the all-inclusive. I'll only be pissed if he is not fresh and sober before the wedding. I'm a little worried about that. Plus there is a small casino and he needs supervision because if he plays slots, it will ruin the whole trip. He cant stop once he starts. We went on a trip to punta cana and while I played a free poker tournament, he had 200 sitting behind me at a slot machine. Next thing I know he is trying to pull me away from the table because he needs my credit card. He had found some high roller game he didnt understand but any time you lose, the bet doubles. He lost over 6k in savings in less than 30 minutes. Completely ruined our trip. That's my only worry about that day so I'll have to have a heart to heart with the best man. Dont sweat him doing something fun with his guys. They are resilient.

I would just let him do what he wants. Give him the time and place to be ready and let him enjoy his morning. You will be plenty busy and won’t have time to worry about him anyway.

My FH is going for a massage. Afterwards he’s taking the “guys” out to lunch, and grabbing “root beers”. His guys are my two sons ages 14 and 11. Along with his best man. He wanted to do something fun for them as well for himself.

I’d let him do whatever he wants, you don’t want to start married life off telling him what to do. We are getting married at a golf club and my fiancé keeps joking he’s going to go golfing first 🙄 I know he’s not, and yeah I’m not a fan of it but if he REALLY wanted to do that then fine. The only thing I said would bother me is if he was drunk haha.

If he wants to play golf, let them play golf. It is a fairly low energy, companionable activity. Why not? I assume you are marrying an adult, who can figure how to prevent a sunburn with sunblock and a hat, and pace himself so he does not become overtired. You do whatever you want and let him and his guys do what they want.

I wouldn't worry much over this. I'd be totally fine if FH went bungee jumping the morning of our wedding Smiley laugh

I’m definitely not trying to pick what he wants to do at all. He himself has said he doesn’t want to go golfing for the reasons I have stated. I was just looking for some inspiration on what other FH are doing. We are not starting a marriage off by telling each other what to do at all so sorry it came off that way. He decided to take his ps4 to the hotel and play games with his groomsmen and they have a Topgolf area he decided he wants to partake in. My biggest thing is he just doesn’t have a good sense of time. I just want him to be on time which I have given him times he needs to be ready and where to be so that helped! But he just thinks getting ready is under 10 minutes and then walks down the isle 🙄

My groom & almost all our groomsmen had sunglasses tans from golfing two days before the wedding haha! It was fine, really not a big deal. But I do agree, the day of he should relax. My husband slept in, had room service for breakfast, showered & got ready, went to lunch with all the groomsmen, then headed to the groom's suite at the venue around 3 PM for our 5 PM ceremony. They had snacks & drinks, ESPN was on, cigars & scotch.
