The lady altering my dress is stumped on how to do a bustle on my dress, due to all the fabric. It has LOTS of handkerchief layers and is heavy. Anyone else have a dress like this and do you have pictures or advice?? My wedding in March 31st! Thanks in advance.

Does she normally do bridal alterations? It would be slightly concerning to me that she doesn’t know how to bustle a gown like that, unless she’s not typically a bridal seamstress.

Is there a spot on the back just below the short ruffles that lays flat enough to pull up and bustle?

She is and she has been doing it for a very long time.. she has just never had a gown with so much fabric and so many layers.. this picture doesn’t do it any justice. We are trying to keep as much of the embellishment on the back as we can and that’s where she is coming up with the issue. I’m not concerned about her services, I’m just trying to see if anyone else has had a dress similar and how they bustled it.
She tried to bustle underneath and we couldn’t get all the layers up without it looking too bulky and still had parts that were too long on the sides,

I didn’t mean any disrespect, maybe was just a bit confused. I’m sorry if I came across harshly. When I tried that gown on, the seamstress took it from between my butt and the floor, and pulled up, not from underneath, and laid it as a bustle.

It’s a beautiful dress, was just so heavy! Lol

I didn't have that dress but I did have a seven layer organza and tulle ball gown with embellishments down a ways like yours, with buttons as well. My seamstress did an incredible job with I don't even know how many points to get it all up and fluffed out perfectly. I'll see if I can find a good close up.

You can see one point that got missed by H!Mori Lee 8195 2

My dress had tons of layers. My seamstress did a french bustle and it had like, 4 or 5 points I think. My MOH and mother came to my final fitting and my seamstress took the time to show them how to bustle and unbustle it.

I have the same dress and am running into the same problem. Were you ever able to hit the bustle figured out? My wedding is in October so I pray for a solution soon
