Mori Lee 2806 nervous for alterations

My dress alterations are going to like yours. Had to get a size bigger for my hips and will have cups added and sleeves taken in to make up for the extra fabric on top for ordering a bigger size

Don't worry about it. It's always best to order the size that fits your fuller areas and shrink everything else down, just be sure to let your seamstress make your gown COMFORTABLE. Nobody wants to be miserable on thier big day!

Are you nervous at all or does your seamstress make you feel confident? Does your dress have lace or beading?

Also, is the zipper in the back or on the side? I heard that zipper in the back is easier for them to work with.

I am extremely nervous about it but my seamstress is awesome and keeps reminding that just believe the dress will fit exactly how I need it to and to envision the end result. I have lace and beading throughout the whole dress. My dress is Mori Lee 8117. The zipper is on the back and it does make it easier to do alterations with it being on the back instead of side but as long as you have faith in your seamstress, your dress will look great on you and will fit in all the right places.

I am in the same situation, mine had to be ordered big enough for my hips, and is being taken in quite a bit up top. I think this is fairly common

Be confident in your seamstress! I have an all lace v neck Maggie sottero dress. It was ordered big enough for my hips but the rest of the dress was huge and it was too long. I just had my second fitting yesterday after the seamstress did those alterations and it fit almost perfectly. There’s still some fabric around my bust that she needs to take in but other than that, you’d never know it was altered. I had a lot of anxiety about it too but ordering it bigger is way better than ordering it too small! My salesperson also told me that after they take all your measurements they order the dress in the size of the largest number knowing that it will have to be taken in

This is my dress too! I had the exact same problem...she lifted the shoulders/sleeves so it fit better in the bust and added cups to help. Ps...great choice

I had to order a size 12 in my wedding dress but needed a 6 up top. I just had my first fitting last week. She is taking about 1.5 inches in on both sides - she had cups in but I told her I prefer the dress without (proud to be flat!! lol) ... my dress is lace with beading. not at all worried about alterations - and the price was much lower than I thought ($225)

Don't be nervous, trust your professional seamstress (unless you have a reason not to! In which case consider taking elsewhere!). Mine was basically a magician and made my Mori Lee ballgown fit perfectly - I was a little worried about how the bustle would look, but she made it seamless, barely changing the shape of the gown. Don't let this weigh on your mind, once you see it finished you'll wish you hadn't spend valuable planning time worrying about this. And if on the off chance it doesn't look right, you can always speak up and a seamstress will know what to do, whether it be an undergarment or a tweak to the dress. Beautiful dress btw!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, it really helped. I went dress shopping alone so I really needed others opinions. My dress does not come in until December so I will let you know then how its going.
