More Than Two rsvp Options?

Chelsea, on January 27, 2021 at 10:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Is anyone here using The Knot as their wedding website?

I've looked all over (with no luck) trying to find a way to add a third option for the RSVP. With the pandemic, I was hoping to offer:

Yes, I will be in attendance

No, I will not be in attendance

I would like to attend the ceremony via Zoom

Our wedding website is through Zola, but their interface may be the same!

On Zola, there isn't a way to change the RSVP options, but you can create questions for the guest when they RSVP. Maybe you can make one that says: "Would you like to attend our wedding via Zoom?". That way your guest can respond to that, and you'll have the data from that to go on!

If you have an option to edit details for your RSVP, maybe you can have a snipet in there that says: "If you wish to attend our wedding via Zoom, please RSVP as 'Not Attending', and respond 'Yes' to the provided question about our Zoom ceremony..."

I used a website called gettingmarried and it was a UK site and it let you massively customize so I was able to put multiple rsvp options (in my culture a lot of people go to reception only so I wanted to rsvp those ways to see who is only coming to reception or both, etc)

Can you just include a blurb on your invitation to visit your website for a link to join via zoom? I’m not sure why they need to RSVP to attend virtually.

    Hi Caytlyn,

It's mainly for my budget. I'm not going to buy meals for 150 people if 15 or so aren't attending and another 25 wish to attend via Zoom. It'll also help me get a better idea of how many chairs, tables, linens, etc I need.

I think what Caytlyn is asking is why do you need to know how many plan on watching virtually? That doesn’t require any additional planning on your part. If they’re coming RSVP yes and if not then they’ll choose no. You can send the zoom like to anyone who chooses no.

Many are using withjoy.com or wix.com for their website and have recommended rsvpify.com for a reply option which can be customized any way you wish.

Right, so they would just check no and you wouldn’t pay for an extra plate.

Hey Chelsea, I'm also using The Knot for my wedding website. My plan is to make a note on the invitations that if they plan to attend virtually to either respond only via the response card included with the invitation (which will have that option) or to mark "no" on The Knot and please let us know that they plan to attend virtually so we can still thank them for celebrating our nuptials with us. The main thing I need the responses for is to provide the venue/caterers with accurate numbers. If numbers is what you're looking at, I'd say to just have them mark "no" on the website if they're attending virtually.

I mean I would personally want to know who was there in spirit via Zoom. Feels a lot better than a straight up "no" lol. And then you can still thank them for participating virtually.
