More Stressed

Anna, on October 2, 2020 at 4:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Does it make you more stressed when people keep pointing how close your wedding day is getting? I mean, I've been counting down the days since he proposed. I know exactly how many days I have left. I also know exactly how long my to-do list is to be ready for the big day. And I know how crazy my life currently is with teaching kindergarten students on a blended schedule and all of the headaches and stress that has been. I swear, I'm going to have a head full of gray hair by the wedding day (and it's only 22 days away). I know they are meaning well, but I really need them to let me be. Maybe I should just turn off notifications.

I think people just ask that because they are excited for you.

but it is stressful for sure because it makes you realize how much left there is to do and how much time left to do it

Most of the time, others aren't thinking about how stressed out you must be. They are only thinking about how excited they are for you! They mean well.

But I would turn off notifications, as you suggested, to give yourself some space from all the well-wishers until the wedding. Smiley smile

Yes! I am 8 days away and my coworker has a sticky note countdown that is driving me crazy. My male coworkers mention every single time they walk by cubicle how many days and don’t do it you still have time to back out and it is absolutely driving me crazy. I just want people to shut up. I am super stressed and have so much to do still and getting reminded of it every 20 mins at work is making me go bonkers!

Yeah, I’m pretty positive they don’t mean to add stress, but hearing it from multiple people just got to me today. I feel a little bit better right now, got our guest room mostly together. Still need to order curtains for the closet and actually move the bed in (I’m still sleeping in that one at my parents until the week before).
My granny hemmed 2 of my bridesmaids’ dresses, I got them steamed today. But there’s still a lot to go.

Maybe they're just as excited for your big day. I personally don't mind when someone tells me "Omg you have 4 days left" etc. I don't think it's intentional to add stress

Personally no. I like how they're just as excited as I am. It's a fun time. My coworkers have been counting down for me for the passed week. It makes me feel more thrilled for the day!

    They're just excited for you.

The day will be here soon enough and everything will work out, even if it feels like it comes down to the last minute or some stuff never fully gets planned in advance. It will come together, you will marry your person, and it will be AMAZING.

Also thanks for being a rockstar teacher during these crazy times.

Yep, and I think it’s more bothersome from the people I’m not really close to, like we don’t talk at all except when they ask how the planning is coming and remind me how close it is.
