Monogrammed suspenders issue

So I wanted the guys in suspenders and my FMIL offered to get them and get them monogrammed. I thought that was very nice of her and accepted! My fiancé has had them for a few weeks. I only saw them this morning. They're done really well the only thing is they are in a weird spot. My fiancé is 6'3" and it only comes up right below where his nipple is. The shortest guy is my height 5'6" and so I tried them on and the monogram hits at my waist. It looks very silly! Now I don't care just to scrap them and have the guys wear belts but I'm worried my FMIL will be hurt. Is it worth it to scrap the idea totally? I don't want her to be hurt but I don't want the guys looking silly either.
